Something new · Rider to rider
A MIPS helmet that fits your head shape, with the wide brim or dial you liked.
Match the helmet to the Tipperary you wore: the Equinavia Crown MIPS for a wide brim, MIPS and a dial together, Trauma Void for rounder and longer oval heads, and the One K Avance Wide Brim for the show ring.

The short version
The Equinavia Crown MIPS is the closest match to a Windsor MIPS, and the Trauma Void, One K and IRH helmets below cover the other shapes and brims riders are replacing.

Riders tell us fit is the reason: pinching and pressure on the Windsor sent them looking, and the Trauma Void and Equinavia helmets below are the ones they name.

Four riders describe a Windsor that pinched at the sides, pressed on the forehead or was too long and narrow for them.

The Crown MIPS suits a very large oval head and a slightly rounder one that sits between sizes.

Tipperary Windsor
The Windsor was a little too oval for my head shape and pinched a little on the sides.
Tipperary Windsor
I rode in a Tipperary Windsor for a couple of years and after about 45 minutes, it would start pressing on forehead and giving me a headache.
Tipperary Windsor
Same experience, the Windsor will not fit an oval head. It gave me a headache, had to send it back immediately.
Tipperary helmets
Tipperary helmets are too long and narrow and do not fit me.
One rider calls her Lynx the most comfortable helmet she has owned, and another prefers it to the EQ3 for its lower profile.
I have a Trauma Void Lynx and it’s the MOST comfortable helmet I’ve ever had (CO always fit me well too).
Trauma Void helmets
I have a Kask that I like and fits well, then I tried the TraumaVoids – both the EQ3 and Lynx. Both fit very well, but I prefer the Lynx. It is lower profile and seems to wrap around more.
Both riders describe a Crown MIPS fit they love.
I have the Equinavia Crown MIPS helmet for my very large oval head and I love it. There's a limited range of brands where I live, I drove around a bunch of tack stores, tried on a few MIPS and CO models and none were right.
This helmet was supposed to fit a slightly more round head shape, and it was suggested to size up to Lg if in-between. And it fits perfect, so happy I got the right helmet on the 1st try! I don't need a shim, the adjustment dial doesn't get caught in my hair.
Independent lab ratings
Virginia Tech's 2026 equestrian table rates the Trauma Void NEOZ EQ3 at 4 stars, sixth of 54 helmets, and the Pardus MIPS at 3 stars. The same table lists the Tipperary Windsor MIPS at 2 stars, ranked 37, and does not list the Devon, Royal, Caledon or Clover.
| Helmet | As Virginia Tech lists it | Rank of 54 | Stars |

| Trauma Void Pardus Smooth Helmet | TRAUMA VOID PARDUS MIPS | 18 | 3 stars |

| If you wore | Riders switch to | Why riders choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Windsor MIPS (traditional brim) | MIPS and a rear dial, with a wider brim than most. | |
| Windsor MIPS (wide brim) | The Crown adds a rear dial; the One K is the show-ring brim. | |
| Clover MIPS | One rider tried the Clover and the Lynx; the Crown is the closer feature match. | |
| Devon MIPS | MIPS in a dial fit (Lynx) or a hook-and-loop fit (One K). | |
| Caledon MIPS | A slim fit for oblong heads, with a screw adjuster at the rear. | |
| Royal (traditional or wide brim) | A wide-brim show look in a lighter shell; it has no MIPS. |
Fit tip
Wrap a soft tape about an inch above your eyebrows and compare front-to-back with ear-to-ear: nearly equal points to a round fit, longer front-to-back to a long oval one. Size to the new maker's chart, not your Tipperary size.Closest match
The Equinavia Crown MIPS is the closest match we carry for a Windsor MIPS: Equinavia lists MIPS, a wide brim with a flexible peak, a dial-adjustable fit and front, top and rear vents. Equinavia lists it as certified to ASTM F1163-23/SEI and CE EN 1384:2023, with a removable, washable lining and a chrome-coated frame.
It comes in several finishes, including black with crystals and navy with gold.
In fairness
The Crown MIPS is a standard fit with a dial, not a long oval shape. If your head runs longer front-to-back, the Pardus below is made for that.Shop Equinavia Crown MIPS helmets

The Trauma Void Lynx Smooth Top is the first helmet to try when a Windsor is too oval for you, with the EQ3 NEOZ as a second look. Trauma Void lists the Lynx Smooth Top as a round fit with MIPS, a rear dial and a washable Coolmax lining, at 600 grams.
The EQ3 NEOZ adds a one-handed magnetic fastener and an adjustment wheel at the back, and Trauma Void lists it as SEI ASTM F1163-23 certified.

Look elsewhere if your head runs longer front-to-back than ear-to-ear: the long oval section below suits you better.Shop Trauma Void MIPS helmets

The One K MIPS CCS Avance Wide Brim is the wide-brim show helmet to try in place of a wide-brim Windsor. One K lists it with MIPS, a wider brim and a moisture-wicking liner, and it adjusts with hook and loop rather than a rear dial.
The IRH F1 Wide Brim gives the same shaded look in a lighter shell with two liner thicknesses, at a lower tier and without MIPS.
In fairness
If you want a rear dial with your wide brim, the Crown MIPS above has one.One K MIPS CCS Avance Wide Brim
You need what fits you, but I stuck with onek after trying the Tipperary Windsor. I did go with MIPS, wide brim.
One K helmets
Second one I am buying (to get a clean one for shows). It's the only one that fits my oval-shaped head! Love it.

The Trauma Void Pardus Smooth is the helmet to try for a long oval head if a Windsor did not suit you, with the Lynx as a second choice. Trauma Void lists the Pardus as a slim fit best suited to oblong heads, with MIPS, front and rear vents and a rear screw adjuster, at about 600 grams.
Choose the larger size if you fall between two. One rider with a very large, long oval head settled on the Lynx, and another with an oval head likes her Pardus dial fit.

Trauma Void lists the Lynx as a round fit, so try both shapes if your measurements sit between them.Traumavoid Lynx is what my very large, long oval head settled on. I also really liked the Tipperary Clover
I have an oval head and like my Back on Track Pardus very much. It has a dial fit that I did not think I would like, but I do.
Sizing
Size a Windsor replacement by measuring about an inch above your eyebrows, then pick the shape before the brand. Do not carry your Tipperary size across: each maker cuts its sizes and shapes differently, so compare your measurement with the size chart on each helmet's page.
Trauma Void advises the larger size in the Pardus if you fall between two, and the Crown MIPS has a rear dial to fine-tune the fit. Wear the helmet indoors for several minutes before you commit; pressure at the forehead or sides after a while is the sign to try a different shape.
Equinavia helmets
The dial system is great for someone like me who is between sizes.
Equinavia helmets
I love the size adjustment dial on the back, so it fits regardless of how I have my hair
In fairness
Many riders love the Windsor, and some of their reasons still apply.
If you have an oval or narrow head, several riders call the Windsor their best-fitting helmet, so try any replacement on before you retire yours.
If you want a dial with a wide brim, the Windsor wide brim has one at the back, as the Crown MIPS does.
If the liner is the problem, riders say a new liner after about two years makes a Windsor feel new.
Riders mostly describe the Windsor as an oval fit, and they disagree even among oval heads: one says it fits her well, another found it too oval and pinching. If your head runs rounder, try the Trauma Void Lynx.
CloseThe Equinavia Crown MIPS is the closest we carry: it lists MIPS, a wide brim and a rear dial. For a show-ring brim with MIPS, try the One K MIPS CCS Avance Wide Brim, which adjusts with hook and loop rather than a dial.
CloseThe Trauma Void Lynx Smooth Top is the first to try for a rounder head, and the Pardus Smooth for a slimmer, long oval one. If your head is longer front-to-back than ear-to-ear, start with the Pardus; otherwise start with the Lynx.
CloseVirginia Tech's 2026 equestrian table lists the Tipperary Windsor MIPS at 2 stars, rank 37 of 54, and does not list the Devon, Royal, Caledon or Clover. The same table gives the Trauma Void NEOZ EQ3 4 stars.
CloseOrder by measurement, not by your Tipperary size: wrap a soft tape about an inch above your eyebrows and compare it with the size chart on the helmet you choose. Trauma Void advises the larger size in the Pardus when you fall between two.
