What sets them apart is the fit grid: the Gianna, Ortona, Lanciano and Constantina come in up to five calf widths, from X Slim to X Wide, and in Regular and Tall heights, with the Gianna also in a Short height.
Shires builds the Gianna with hard-wearing leather on the inside of the calf and softer stretch panels on the outside so the boot hugs the leg, plus stretch mock laces and an ActiveFlex insole. The Ortona is the polished competition boot, with shape-retaining leather, a square toe, leather-covered UltraFit calf panels and dressage-cut tops. The Lanciano is the smooth dress boot of the line, and the Constantina adds brogue detail and nubuck calf grips.
The Gianna fits snug through the calf at first, and Moretta boots are made in whole sizes only, so riders between sizes should check the size chart before ordering.

Shires Moretta country boots are the waterproof side of the line, made for days that move between the barn, the field and the saddle. Shires puts a waterproof membrane in each one and a steel shank under the foot, and describes the XGRIP boots as stirrup compatible.
The tall country boots are the Pamina (water-repellent nubuck with a side zip), the Teramo (full lace-up front, faux fur lining, buckled top strap), the Jovanne (calf-length, Sherpa fleece lining, lace front and back zip) and the Voltana Tall XGRIP (lace front with calf width options). The ankle-height XGRIP boots are the Vittoria with a front zip, the Eleonora with laces and the Genoa as a pull-on; Shires builds them in water-repellent buffalo leather with reinforced toes and heels and reflective trim.
The Forio Dealer is a pull-on waterproof ankle boot with an oiled leather finish and Moretta’s XTR-Terrain sole, made as a work and everyday boot. The Mossa Trail Trainer is a waterproof suede and textile trainer for the barn and the trail; it is a shoe for off the horse, not a riding boot.

Shires Moretta paddock boots are ankle riding boots for lessons, schooling and wearing with half chaps, in women’s US sizes 5 to 11. The Rosetta is polished full grain leather with a front YKK zip; the Clio is the same front-zip shape in easy-care faux leather; the Anita has a back zip and mock laces in wipe-clean synthetic leather; and the Emilia is the winter paddock boot, with a fleece lining, a waterproof membrane sock and Moretta’s All Terrain riding sole.

Shires Moretta makes three of its riding boots in kids’ sizes. The Kids’ Gianna Field Boot is the same leather field boot as the women’s Gianna, in youth size 13 and 1 to 7 in a Regular height and youth 5 to 7 in a Tall height. The Kids’ Rosetta (full grain leather) and Kids’ Clio (faux leather) paddock boots come in youth sizes 11 to 13 and 1 to 4, with front zips that make them easy for young riders to put on alone.
Paddock boots with jodhpurs and half chaps are the usual first riding boots for a child; the Kids’ Gianna is the step up for the show ring.

I’m 5’1’’ and the Moretta Gianna in short length fit me perfectly, they could possibly even get away with being an inch longer and still be fine.
