🔧 Adjust for Your Horse
✓
Horse is Clipped
Clipped coats lose body heat faster — shifts recommendation by 10–15°F equivalent
✓
Has Shelter Access
A well-sheltered horse can often go one weight lighter than the base recommendation
✓
Senior or Underweight
Older horses and those in poor condition struggle to hold body heat — go heavier
✓
Thin-Skinned Breed
Thoroughbreds, Arabians & fine-boned warmbloods often need a weight heavier than the standard chart
💡 When in doubt, go heavier. An overheated horse will sweat and can self-regulate by moving around — a horse that's too cold cannot warm itself as easily. Check under the blanket each morning and adjust as the forecast changes.
