Horze Women's Desiree High Waist Full Seat Breeches
My new absolute favorite breeches. Will be buying a dozen more pairs -- and I can, because they're such a good deal! <3 And as a bonus: the front pockets on these are INDUSTRIAL size. Could fit four iPhones in those bad boys.
Equinavia Women's Astrid Silicone Knee Patch Breeches
Obsessed! These breeches are a dream come true for me. I will never buy anything other than Astrids. Fit, quality, material and comfort - these breeches have it all :)
Horze Women's Active Full Seat Breeches
I love these. I call them my pajama breeches. They are soft, cottony and forgiving. Great for schooling, good price and I have some pairs that are going on 5 years old.
Ovation Women's Celebrity Slim Secret Full Seat
I am already self-conscious of my weight (which I am working on) and breeches seems to accentuate everything that is wrong with my body. That is until I found these breeches!

The Breeches Edit

Knee patch or full seat
Knee patch breeches have grip only on the inside of the knee. Full seat breeches carry grip from the seat down the inner thigh.
The grip is either silicone or a suede or leather patch. Eventers switch by phase: full seat for dressage and cross-country, knee patch for stadium jumping.
| Discipline | Seat riders wear | What USEF rules say about breeches |
|---|---|---|
| Hunters | Knee patch, on the flat too | Buff, canary, tan, rust or white (HU107.2) |
| Jumpers | Usually full seat | Formal attire: white or fawn. Proper attire: light colors. Standard attire: any color (JP111.11) |
| Dressage | Full seat | White, light or dark; no bright colors or patterns (DR120.1.4) |
| Eventing | Full seat for dressage and cross-country; knee patch for stadium jumping | See the USEF Eventing rules (EV) for each phase |
| Schooling, lessons & trail | Your choice, or what your trainer suggests | No rule |

Equinavia Women's Astrid Silicone Full Seat Breeches
Bought these at Equine Affair, finally got around to wearing them. They fit great, have the right amount of stretch, super comfortable. The full seat grip is perfect - not TOO sticky, so you can still move, but enough to make you feel secure. Fabric is soft, yet still repelled dirt and hay. I will definitely buy more!
Horze Women's Tara Full Seat Breeches
I now have 5 pairs of these breeches. By far my breech. Super sticky seat which is great for young horses. Please continue to make these and make them in more fun colors!
Horze Women's Grand Prix Knee Patch Breeches
A couple years ago I bought them in black and still to this day, they are my absolute favorite breeches ever. They are so comfortable, but still like hold everything. I've worn them in every season possible and they are just perfect. Thrilled to have them in tan now. I wish I had 100 pairs of them
B Vertigo Women's Tiffany Full Seat Breeches
I have several other styles from Equinavia, the Horze Grand Prix and the Desiree. The Grand Prix is awesome but I wanted something with a waist that was just a bit higher and this is it! Just at the belly button! Love the material and the silicone is great. I found the fit to be very similar to the Grand Prix.

Horze Women's Desiree High Waist Full Seat Breeches
Luuurve these breeches! I’m tall, long waisted, and these fit even better than the pikers I’ve been wearing for decades. Cool looking too—each time I wear them, people compliment and want to know what brand they are. Well made, strong stitching. Great value!
Horze Women's Melody High Waist Micro Silicone Full Seat Breeches
PERFECT fit!!! I’ve never been able to find a pair of breeches that fit me so well! I have a really tiny waist, almost no butt, yet pretty muscular legs and the high waist on these was perfect! The material is so so comfy too!! Will be buying more
Horze Women's Active Full Seat Breeches
Love the higher waisted pants since I’m not exactly “slim”. The sticky silicone seat has saved me more than once, won’t buy another brand.
TuffRider Women's Perfect Knee Patch Breeches
Beige is my favorite breech color to wear. I like TuffRider Ladies Perfect Knee Patch Breeches because they’re also high waisted, which is one, more flattering and two, more comfortable.

Riding tights & leggings
Riding tights pull on with a wide waistband instead of a zip and belt loops. Breeches have a zip fly and belt loops. For schooling, lessons and trail, tights or breeches is your choice, or your trainer's.

On riding tights
Shires Aubrion Women's Team Riding Tights
The only tights I purchase any more are from Shires as they last the longest, fit me the best, and are the most affordable. These are gorgeous and the design on the seat is so stylish! I’ve got them in the brown as well.
Horze Women's Juliet HyPer Flex Full Seat Tights
I absolutely love these riding tights. They fit perfectly and are true to size, with great stretch in every direction, especially helpful if you deal with knee pain. The fabric feels comfortable, perfect weight for warm weather. The silicone seat gives a light grip without being overly sticky. I also like the small hidden pocket inside the waistband. The price was so good that I stocked up for summer, so I always have a clean pair ready even if I skip laundry.
Shires Aubrion Women's Team Riding Tights
Very nice tights! They fit wonderfully, and are very stretchy so they’ll fit as I change shape. I love the fact that the silicone isn’t on the top of the inner thigh, so it doesn’t rub against itself! Good grip without the rub. Highly recommend.
Horze Women's Nicki Breathable Technical Full Seat Tights
I feel like a super model in these and love the grip. I’m an Eventer so the silicone is great on my green OTTBS. BOUGHT all colors

Show breeches
Hunters show in knee patch. Dressage riders show in full seat, and most jumpers do. In the jumper ring the rule depends on the class: formal attire calls for white or fawn breeches, proper attire for light colors, and standard attire allows any color (USEF JP111.11). The prize list says which attire a class uses.

Tredstep Women's Solo Extreme Knee Patch Breeches
My favorite summer breech, works for hunter shows too. I just love the fabric and breech is long-lasting I've worn my first pair for 2 years (trainer) and this is a reorder - unbeatable when on sale price.
Horze Women's Tara Full Seat Breeches
Some of the most COMFORTABLE breeches I have ever worn. I'm in my breeches all day and these are soft and STRETCHY. More comfortable than yoga pants! They sticky full seat holds up GREAT. I have a pair in black and just bought two in white for shows. I will admit, the belt loops being a few inches lower than the top of the breeches is a little odd looking at first but it is still quite tasteful.
B Vertigo Women's Tiffany Full Seat Breeches
I love these breeches for showing, have slowly replaced all my other show breeches with these over the last few years. They run large, at least one full size if not a smidge more. Thin, breathable material that is great for summer days without being too transparent in white.
Equine Couture Women's Darsy Silicone Knee Patch Breeches
My favorite to school in and show in! I have 2 pairs and hope to buy more in the future!

B Vertigo Women's Aurelia Thermo Tights
These are the warmest breeches I've found. They're technically tights, but they have the look of breeches. They are thick with a fleece lining, so I can wear them when it's in the 20s. I love the high waist (higher in the back). The full seat grip isn't too sticky, it's just right. I have a pair in navy, and I loved them so much, I got them in the khaki color too.
Horze Women's Adeline Full Seat Bootcut Breeches
I can highly recommend these for both English and Western riding. I have been wearing these for 2 years now in the winter. They are better than Columbia snow pants or Carhart. Much safer too because the knee stretches, I don’t have to move them to get on. They’re always ready to go. I just stick my foot in the stirrup and load up. In the past, I have had to always adjust the pants or coveralls. I have also found them to be very safe when starting horses, the light grip on the rear and inner thigh makes them far superior to anything for Skiing. If you live in a cold climate, and you never want to be cold again start with these pants. I live in Northern Utah and I have used these inside and outside at extreme temperatures.
Horze Women's Rhea Full Seat Thermo Breeches
Love these! I run a farm in central Maine and these keep me warm ALL day. I’ve been recommending these to all my clients!
Shires Aubrion Women's Porter Winter Knee Patch Riding Tights
Second set purchased. First set was a gift but wouldn’t be without a pair for the winter now. Warmer than other winter riding tights I’ve tried. Toast when riding in the winter and half seat so not too sticky! Wash well.

Horze Women's Kaia Highwaist Denim Silicone Full Seat Breech
absolutely the most comfortable riding breeches or jeans that I have EVER had. the silicone full seat has much more "stretch-ability" and does NOT bind when one bends the knee, or pull or sag or have any seams that might irritate. The high waist is much for comfortable in the saddle and prevents SLIDING down...!!! LOVE THEM and I'm getting another pair!!
Horze Women's Kacy Denim Winter Full Seat Breeches
At first I thought they were a little small. But they either stretched a little or I lost a little weight. They have been toasty warm on those 40 degree windy spring days. I even layered my fleece lined yoga leggings under them to make them even warmer! I am a fair weather rider & hate riding in the cold weather. But these breeches have gotten me in the saddle way earlier than usual! I ride western & like the Jean look.
Horze Women's Kaia Highwaist Denim Silicone Full Seat Breech
I am in love with these! I ordered a pair in light wash and dark wash and they are so cute! They are actually high waisted (a lot of breeches claim to be, but are not) and they have super cute details like embroidered bits and a bit pattern for the grip of the full seat. I have had non-equestrian people compliment me on these when I have been around town. They are super comfortable and stretchy as well! I would say that you might want to order a size down from your regular size, but it is not overly big if you decide not to. I would highly recommend these!!
Dublin Women's Shona Full Suede Seat Denim Breeches
These are great- they are stretchy but not constricting and very flattering. Have ridden in them twice and very happy with my purchase!

Questions riders ask
[NO SOURCE] A breech with a contoured back waist and a wide, stretchy waistband suits an hourglass figure best, because it follows the curve from waist to hip without gapping at the back. Choose by your hip measurement and a fabric with good four-way stretch, so the waist sits snug without pulling across the seat.
Tights and breeches both come in knee patch and full seat; what separates them is the fabric. For schooling, lessons and trail, it is your choice, or what your trainer suggests. For a show, check the attire rules for your division.
[NO SOURCE] On most European breeches the US waist size is the EU size minus 12: EU 34 is a US 22, EU 38 is a US 26, EU 42 is a US 30 and EU 46 is a US 34. Each product page lists the brand's own size chart, so check it before you order.
[NO SOURCE] Breeches should sit smooth over the knee with no wrinkles behind it when you bend your leg, and the knee patch should land on the inside of the knee. Below the knee they should fit close, with a sock or stretch cuff that lies flat under a tall boot so it doesn't bunch or rub.
No rule requires them: USEF DR120.1.4 sets only the color, white, light or dark, with no bright colors or patterns. In practice, dressage riders ride in full seat.
