Breeches & Tights
Eventing splits it: full seat for dressage and cross-country, knee patch for stadium. Riding tights come in both seats too; what separates them from breeches is the fabric weight.
Breeches and tights are sized by waist or by letter. Choose your size in Find Your Fit above to see every style in it, Unisex included.

Horze Women's Desiree High Waist Full Seat Breeches
My new absolute favorite breeches. Will be buying a dozen more pairs -- and I can, because they're such a good deal! <3
And as a bonus: the front pockets on these are INDUSTRIAL size. Could fit four iPhones in those bad boys.
Equinavia Women's Astrid Silicone Knee Patch Breeches
Obsessed! These breeches are a dream come true for me. I will never buy anything other than Astrids. Fit, quality, material and comfort - these breeches have it all :)
Shires Aubrion Women's Team Riding Tights
The only tights I purchase any more are from Shires as they last the longest, fit me the best, and are the most affordable. These are gorgeous and the design on the seat is so stylish! I’ve got them in the brown as well.
Tredstep Women's Solo Extreme Knee Patch Breeches
My favorite summer breech, works for hunter shows too. I just love the fabric and breech is long-lasting I've worn my first pair for 2 years (trainer) and this is a reorder - unbeatable when on sale price.

Boots
The dressage rule allows field or dress boots, but the dressage ring does not use field boots. In jumper classes, boots are required at every attire level, and half chaps are permitted when their color matches the paddock boots (JP111.11, 2026).
Our women's tall boots are cut in calf widths from XX Slim to XX Wide and in heights from Short to X Tall, so the shaft can be matched to the leg as well as the foot.

Mountain Horse Women's Veganza Field Boots
The vegan leather is beautiful and no one knew it wasn't actual leather until I told them. Comfortable from the outset, very easy break in
Shires Moretta Women's Constantina Boot
Amazing fit! I am 5”9 and thought these may be too short, but they fit perfectly, there are not many large boots out there for slim women and these just tick every box. Delivery was very fast with no issues.
Ovation Women's Moorland II Waterproof Highrider Tall Boot
LOVE MY BOOTS!! Great fit (my calves are always an issue), versatile for riding and chores. Really comfortable, easy on and off (haven't zipped my calf yet!)
Buy these!!
Dublin Women's Venturer RS Jodphur Boots III
I have been looking for these kind of boots, they work well for riding and barn things! My ankles don't love the regular paddock boots, but with these my ankles are happy. Great fit, and they look good!

The Show Ring
Jumper attire depends on the class: Formal Jumper Attire requires dark, muted or scarlet coats with white or fawn breeches, Proper Jumper Attire allows coats of any color with light breeches, and Standard Jumper Attire makes coats optional (JP111.11a–c, 2026).
In dressage, any single-color jacket is allowed, with white, light or dark breeches and a shirt with a tie, choker, stock tie or stand-up collar (DR120.1.2, 1.4 and 1.5, USEF Dressage Attire & Equipment booklet, 5/1/2026). For show coats and shirts, start with RJ Classics, Alessandro Albanese, Tredstep and LeMieux.

B Vertigo Women's Gabrielle Mesh Show Jacket
This jacket is very well made and perfect for hot hot weather. To me, it feels like riding in a tee shirt. It looks nice, is tailored, not tight in any way so completely unrestrictive. I wore it in Temecula at Galway in August and it was perfect because it is mesh, but not seethrough. Excellent product!
Kerrits Women's Stretch Competitor Koat 4 Snap
This light weight show jacket is comfortable, breathable and a great addition to my show closet. The classic color and cut look great in both hunter under saddle and training level dressage. I’d buy it again!
Kerrits Women's Stretch Competitor Koat 3 Snap
Well made, will last forever. Love the zipper behind the snaps so you always look neat. Does run a little big
Chestnut Bay Women's SkyCool Liberty Long Sleeve Show Shirt
Absolutely gorgeous shirt!! My Granddaughter wore it for a competition. She looked stunning!! Great material & looks better on than in the photo. Love it & would highly recommend!!

Tops & Outerwear
Horseware builds its Verve Long Padded Coat with a two-way zip, a generous back gusset and removable inner leg straps that keep the coat in place while you ride. Mountain Horse makes its Alicia Parka waterproof and windproof, with a riding slit at the back.
For warmer rides, Chestnut Bay makes its Performance Rider SkyCool Shirt in UPF 50 rated fabric with mesh panels.

Chestnut Bay Women's Performance Rider SkyCool Long Sleeve Shirt
Great riding shirt. I love the fit, the weight of the fabric and the color. And it was a great price. I will definitely be purchasing more of these shirts.
Tredstep Women's Performance Polo
Classically tailored and well made. Perfect for summer riding or under a fleece for fall. My daughters LOVE these shirts and have one in nearly every color.
Horseware Women's Verve Long Padded Coat
Really warm and works great when riding! It's been super cold this winter and this coat is much appreciated. I no longer have to wear five layers to be warm.
Mountain Horse Women's Alicia Parka
I love this coat for the barn! It’s warm while being lightweight. I don’t ride outside in the winter, but it would be perfect for that as well.

Helmets
Many of our helmets include Mips, a low-friction layer inside the helmet designed to reduce rotational motion from angled impacts. Equinavia's Crown helmet adds a dial to adjust the fit and a wider brim for sun coverage.
Riding helmets are sold as unisex, so this edit shows adult styles in black, navy and brown.
For trail rides, Troxel gives its Dakota helmet an extended sun visor and a leather hat band, and Centaur Ranch says its Trail 360 helmets meet ASTM F1163-23 SEI and adjust with a dial fit system.

Equinavia Crown MIPS Riding Helmet
I am a 79 year old woman who averages four dressage rides a week. This is the most comfortable riding helmet that I have ever purchased.
Equinavia Crown MIPS Riding Helmet
Very comfortable and nice design. Doesn't make my head super sweaty which is a bonus on hot summer days. The built in visor is also a great feature for sun protection.
Love this helmet. It is honestly the most comfortable helmet I own (yes I own several). I bought it to be my competition helmet but have been riding in it at home and it fits well and feels great.
I have a big oval head and this is the first MIPs helmet that I’ve been able to forget I’m wearing. It fits so well, is so comfortable, and actually fits - no more forehead indents. I measured at 57mm but the medium fits me perfectly.

Accessories
Riding gloves are mostly unisex, so our women's gloves include unisex styles in the full size range. Roeckl says its Roeck-Grip Riding Gloves give grip on the reins and are touchscreen compatible.
Women's Accessories gathers belts, boot socks, stock ties and polo belts in one place.

Horze Evelyn Breathable Gloves
Wore them at a hunter/jumper show in 100% humidity while riding a strong horse- they did their job!
Ovation Women's Pro-Grip Summer Show Gloves
Super nice gloves! Fot like a glove (LOL) and the fabric is lush. Amazing buy.
B Vertigo Geox Warm Riding Socks
I love these socks! Perfect for winter. I love that they have multiple size options. Having small feet, most one size fits all socks are way too big for me. The extra ribbing around the arch is always a plus too!
Equine Couture Women's Diamond Quilted Suede Belt
I love this belt so much!! Completes every outfit!!!

Questions riders ask
Breeches or riding tights, riding boots, a protective helmet and a riding top. At USEF shows, protective headgear is required in hunter, equitation and dressage classes, and boots worn while riding at dressage competitions must have a distinguishable heel (HU107.1, EQ106.1, DR120.1.1 and DR120.1.6, 2026). For schooling, lessons and trail, the rest is your choice or your trainer's.
For schooling, lessons and trail, it's your choice or your trainer's. If you like denim, riding jeans are made for the saddle: Horze makes its Kaia Highwaist Denim Silicone Full Seat Breech with a silicone full seat for grip. At USEF shows, the hunter, equitation, jumper and dressage attire rules all name breeches (HU107.2, EQ106.2, JP111.11, DR120.1.4, 2026).
Knee patch breeches have grip at the knee; full seat breeches carry it through the seat. In the hunter ring, knee patch is the norm, on the flat too; in dressage, full seat is the norm, and many jumpers ride in it too. Eventing splits it: full seat for dressage and cross-country, knee patch for stadium. No USEF dressage rule requires full seat: DR120.1.4 sets only the color. For schooling, lessons and trail, it's your choice or your trainer's.
Hunter and equitation breeches may be buff, canary, tan, rust or white (HU107.2, EQ106.2). In jumper classes, Formal Jumper Attire calls for white or fawn breeches, Proper Jumper Attire for light colors (white, fawn or canary), and Standard Jumper Attire allows any color (JP111.11). Dressage allows white, light or dark breeches, with no bright colors or patterns (DR120.1.4). All rules are from the 2026 USEF editions.
Our women's breeches and tights run in waist sizes from 22 to 38 and up and in letter sizes up to 3X. Choose your size in Find Your Fit above to see every style made in it, Unisex included.
Paddock boots are ankle-height riding boots, worn on their own or with half chaps. Dublin, for example, designs its Venturer RS boots specifically for riding, to fit well in a stirrup iron. At USEF dressage tests at Fourth Level and below, paddock or jodhpur boots are allowed with half chaps or garters that match the boots (DR120.1.6, 2026).
At a USEF dressage test at Fourth Level or below, paddock or jodhpur boots are worn with half chaps or garters that match the boot color (DR120.1.6), and in jumper classes half chaps are permitted when their color matches the paddock boots (JP111.11). For schooling, lessons and trail, it's your choice or your trainer's.
The rule allows both: USEF DR120.1.6 requires tall English-style riding boots above Fourth Level, “including dress or field boots or variations thereof,” and at Fourth Level and below allows tall boots, or paddock boots with half chaps or garters that match the boot color. In practice, the dressage ring does not use field boots.
A show shirt is the collared shirt worn under a show coat, and the rules set its neckline. Hunter and equitation shirts must have a choker, similar collar or tie (HU107.2, EQ106.2). Formal Jumper Attire calls for a white or lightly colored shirt with a white collar and white cuffs (JP111.11a), and dressage shirts need a tie, choker, stock tie or integrated stand-up collar (DR120.1.5).
A dark, single-color coat meets all three: formal hunter attire calls for scarlet or dark coats (HU107.3), Formal Jumper Attire for dark, muted or scarlet coats (JP111.11a), and dressage permits any single-color jacket, while striped or multicolored jackets are not permitted (DR120.1.2). All rules are from the 2026 USEF editions.
That's your choice, but riding coats add details made for the saddle. Horseware builds its Verve Long Padded Coat with a two-way zip, a generous back gusset and removable inner leg straps that keep the coat in place while you ride, and Mountain Horse gives its Alicia Parka a riding slit at the back.
Look for a glove made for cold rides. Roeckl makes its Warwick Winter Riding Gloves from Polartec Power Stretch Pro, with extended cuffs that tuck inside a jacket sleeve and silicone on the palm for grip, and Horze lines its Winter Cuff Gloves for warmth, with an adjustable cuff fastener.
In USEF dressage, white or light-colored gloves are recommended and any solid color is permitted at Fourth Level and below; gloves are required in FEI tests or levels and must be white, off white or the same color as the coat (DR120.1.7, USEF Dressage Attire & Equipment booklet, 5/1/2026).
It means the helmet meets a published testing standard. USEF dressage rules require protective headgear that complies with the accepted testing standards published on the Federation's website and carries the applicable testing tag or label (DR120.1.1). Makers list their standards on the product page: Equinavia, for example, lists ASTM F1163-23/SEI and CE EN 1384:2023 for its Crown helmet.
Mips stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System. One K describes it as a low-friction layer inside the helmet that allows a sliding motion, designed to add protection against rotational motion from angled impacts. See every helmet with it on our Mips helmets page.
