Something new · Rider to rider
The helmet that fits your head shape, matched to the way your MyPS fit.
Charles Owen ended UK production on 19 December 2025, and the MyPS is hard to find. Riders with oval and long oval heads try the One K MIPS CCS in Long Oval sizes, the IRH IR4G XLT and the Equinavia Crown MIPS; rounder heads try the Trauma Void Lynx.

The short version
One K's MIPS CCS and Avance Wide Brim come in Long Oval sizes, and the IRH IR4G XLT and Equinavia Crown MIPS suit oval heads, so start with your head shape rather than your old size.

The Charles Owen MyPS is hard to find: Charles Owen ended UK production on 19 December 2025, and the company has said some models may return. Kylo, Phoenix, Kontor, Shadow and Eclipse are made elsewhere and continue, but no one can yet say whether the MyPS is among the models that come back. Until then, match your head shape to the helmets below.
Rider voices
Riders tell us the shape decides the helmet: some moved to a long oval fit, some to a cooler helmet, and some to a dial that fits a rounder head.

MIPS CCS Avance Wide Brim Helmet
Recently purchased the One K wide brim in long oval, and find it to fit really well. I was in a CO before as well.
MIPS CCS Avance Wide Brim Helmet
I have a wide-brim OneK Long Oval MIPS that I purchased this summer. Absolutely love it. I'd previously had two OneK Long Oval Defenders and found the fit between the MIPS version and my prior helmets to be the same.
CO/long oval one k fit me and I ended up in an IRH ir4g xlt.
The IRH IR4G XLT also has a long oval fit and is extremely comfortable, it is actually slightly more comfortable than the Samshield.
The first time they wore it, riders noticed the temperature difference.
One K helmets
I've got a OneK now, after having COs for years. I really love how much cooler it is; the first time I wore it, the airflow was noticeable.
One K helmets
One k. Cooler than my Tipperary sportage was, much cooler than my ayr8, love the washable liner. Love the fit- only helmet I've ever worn where I forget I'm wearing a helmet.
One K helmets
I went from a GR8 to a OneK in long oval and haven't looked back. I remember wearing it the first time and the temperature difference being notable.
I own the helmet and it is much, much cooler than my CO Ayr8 - closer to how cool my old Tipperary was.
Riders describe fit as personal, so measure your head and try two or three shapes.
IRH helmets
I had a Charles Owen for years, and then when I went to update I found that the newer models just didn't fit me well- so IRH it is for me!
One K helmets
I CANNOT fit in a CO. I tried both Samshield and One K (was prepared to buy whatever fit better), and it was the One K.
Trauma Void helmets
The Trauma Void helmets fit me SOOO much better than the Charles Owens. It's been a huge uptick in my quality of life. I can't even describe. I was a devoted CO owner but had issues along the way. Headaches, helmets would only fit well for 7 months or so and then they'd stretch.
Trauma Void helmets
I wish the CO MY PS looked better and fit me better. I tried one on and had a headache inside 2 minutes. Going up a size was just too big. I'm happy with my Trauma Void.
One rider with a very large oval head loves her Crown MIPS, and another finds the Lynx the most comfortable helmet she has owned.
I have the Equinavia Crown MIPS helmet for my very large oval head and I love it. There's a limited range of brands where I live, I drove around a bunch of tack stores, tried on a few MIPS and CO models and none were right.
I have a Trauma Void Lynx and it's the MOST comfortable helmet I've ever had (CO always fit me well too).
Swap guide
Find your head shape in the left column. The helmets riders move to sit beside it, with a price tier for each.
Price tiers among these picks: $ (lowest) to $$$$ (highest).
| If your head is | Riders try | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Oval, and you want MIPS |
| MIPS, a washable liner and the CCS color system, with refit liners sold separately. |
| Long oval | A shell cut longer front to back, or 2 liner thicknesses to fine-tune the fit. | |
| Oval, and you want a dial | A dial, a wide brim and MIPS, a tier lower than the One K. | |
| Smaller or rounder, and you want a dial |
| Trauma Void designs both for a rounder head, with a dial or an adjustment wheel. |
| Any shape, for everyday schooling | A dial fit and a removable liner at the lowest tier. |
Fit tip
Compare front to back with ear to ear one inch above your eyebrows: nearly equal points to a Trauma Void Lynx, a little longer to the Crown MIPS or One K MIPS CCS, and noticeably longer to a One K Long Oval or the IRH XLT. Between two sizes, try the dial or second liner first.Long oval
One K in Long Oval sizes is the first helmet to try after a MyPS when your head is longer front to back than it is wide. The One K MIPS CCS and the MIPS CCS Avance Wide Brim both come in Long Oval sizes from X Small to X Large, with MIPS, a washable moisture-wicking liner and refit liners sold separately.
One K's Defender, without MIPS, comes in Long Oval sizes too.
In fairness
If your head is longer still, try the IRH XLT below, which adds a second liner thickness.Shop One K helmets

The IRH IR4G XLT is the next long oval helmet to try after One K: IRH ships it with 2 washable liners in 2 thicknesses to tune the fit, with front, top and back ventilation ports and a quick-release chinstrap. IRH lists it as meeting ASTM F1163-15.
IRH makes the XLT without MIPS and without a dial.
In fairness
If you want MIPS in a long oval fit, the One K MIPS CCS is the pick. If you want a dial, try the Crown MIPS below.Shop IRH helmets
Shop all ›Oval, with a dial

The Equinavia Crown MIPS is the dial-fit helmet to try for an oval head that wore a Charles Owen, with MIPS, a dial-adjustable precision fit and a wide brim. Its washable lining is moisture-wicking with memory foam, the frame has front, top and rear ventilation slots, and Equinavia lists it as ASTM F1163-23/SEI and CE EN 1384:2023 certified.
In fairness
The Crown MIPS is a show helmet with a brim. If you want a skull cap with no peak, try the Trauma Void Lynx Eventing Skull.Shop Equinavia Crown helmets
Shop all ›Smaller or rounder heads

The Trauma Void Lynx Smooth Top is the helmet to try for a smaller or rounder head that wore a Charles Owen, with MIPS, a washable lining and a dial at the back. Trauma Void says the Lynx is designed to fit a rounder-shaped head. The EQ3 NEOZ adds a magnetic fastener you can close with one hand.
In fairness
If your head is long oval, start with the One K or the IRH XLT above, because Trauma Void designs the Lynx for a rounder head.Shop Trauma Void helmets

Measure first
Wrap a soft tape around your head about one inch above your eyebrows, then compare front to back with ear to ear: nearly equal suggests a round head, a little longer front to back an oval one, and noticeably longer a long oval one.
Choose the maker's shape and size, then try it on. It should sit level and snug, with no pressure at the forehead or temples. Nod and shake your head: if the helmet shifts on your skin, try the second liner, the dial or the next shape before a bigger size.
In fairness
Fit is personal, and a head longer than a long oval One K may need more than one try.In fairness
Riders who wore a MyPS had reasons, and some of them still apply.
If your MyPS fits you now, keep wearing it and use this page for the day you need a replacement.
If you want a fixed-size helmet with MIPS, match the closest shape and try it on before you retire the old one.
If you have worn Charles Owen for years, bring your model name and size, and measure your head before you shop.
The closest match depends on your head shape. Oval heads often try the One K MIPS CCS or the Equinavia Crown MIPS, and long oval heads try One K in Long Oval sizes or the IRH IR4G XLT. Measure, then try two or three.
CloseThe MyPS is hard to find. Charles Owen ended UK production on 19 December 2025, and the company has said some models may return, but no one can say whether the MyPS will. Match your head shape in the guide above.
CloseTry One K in Long Oval sizes, the IRH IR4G XLT and the Equinavia Crown MIPS first: the XLT has two liners and the Crown MIPS has a dial. Measure first, then browse the Long Oval size runs.
CloseMeasure front to back and ear to ear one inch above your eyebrows. Nearly equal means round, a little longer front to back means oval, and noticeably longer means long oval.
