WeatherBeeta Prime Air-Tec Jump Shaped Saddle Pad
I really love the LeMieux pads because they have the reinforced girth area, but they're so expensive. This pad was a great alternative! I've been using this for about a month now and really like it. The quality is good and it's a great price!
WeatherBeeta Prime saddle pads
Love this pad, same shape and quality as my favorite Lemieux pad at a more affordable price. I really like the straps that connect to the D-rings, keeping the pad up off the withers. Lots of colors to choose from too.
One rider keeps her LeMieux for its colors while ARMA pads hold up on sale, and another bought an Equinavia mainly for its colors.
Shires ARMA saddle pads
I picked up some cheaper Arma saddle pads on sale and they are holding up nicely. My LeMieux pads are better colors, but both stay off his withers and seem breathable enough for hot weather.
Equinavia Copenhagen Stay Put Dressage Saddle Pad
Absolutely love this pad! Bought it primarily because of the colors but am thrilled with the quality. My new competition pad!!!
An ARMA owner says her pad doesn't move or slip, and a Dapplebay owner says the fabric underneath keeps it in place.
Shires ARMA Satin AP Saddle Pad
Love this pad. The color is amazing - kind of Pinot Noir-ish. Satin texture and very thick. I love the dee ring attachments for the pad. Doesn't move or slip.
Dapplebay Constellation Jump Saddle Pad
Not only is this pad super cute, it's a good thickness without causing too much bulk under the saddle. I've been riding in this lately and can say that I have had no issues with the pad slipping. The fabric on the underside ensures this pad stays in place.

Fit tip
Measure your saddle's seat and flaps, then match the cut: dressage pads have longer, straighter sides, jump and close contact pads are cut forward, and all purpose pads sit between. The benchmark

LeMieux saddle pads lead on matching color sets, grip-first builds and a reinforced girth area, which is why riders build whole sets around them. The range repeats its named colorways across pads, bonnets and boots, so a Suede Dressage Square in one shade can be matched through the rest of the tack box.
For a saddle that slips, the LeMieux X-Grip Silicone Dressage Square pairs a silicone saddle grip with memory foam under the saddle and a blast foam core. For fit adjustment, the ProSorb Plain 2 Pocket GP Square comes with two sets of 5mm foam shims, and for hot work the Self-Cool Close Contact Square uses a moisture-activated cooling lining with a carbon mesh spine.

[NAME WITHHELD], I blame you for my need for matching LeMieux polos and saddle pads. I mean, at least I’ve kept it to white, navy, and black? Oh, and the bandage liners. And I’ve infected my barn with LeMieux pads and polos and bandages.
LeMieux saddle pads
Not gonna lie. I adore my LeMieux pads and have spent a small fortune upgrading most of my pads to them. The mesh pads are my absolute favorites, and ARE actually cooler than other pads in the heinous mid-atlantic summers.

WeatherBeeta Prime Air-Tec pads are the closest carried match to the LeMieux square: the Prime Air-Tec Dressage Saddle Pad has a 100% cotton upper, an Air-Tec mesh spine, an easy-wick lining and a dressage shape, in a wide color range. The Suede Elite Air-Tec Dressage Saddle Pad steps up to a suede-effect outer, a vegan leather girth patch, a girth strap stabilizer and a high wither design.
The Prime Air-Tec Jump Shaped Saddle Pad brings a jump shape with the same mesh spine, and the Prime Air-Tec All Purpose Saddle Pad covers everyday riding in an all purpose cut. Love the color! Fits my mustang perfectly. The easy wick/quick drying material is great. I’m in the south where it’s already getting in the high 80s and this pad dries almost completely before I put my rack away after my rides. I also love the wither relief. Definitely recommend!
WeatherBeeta Prime Air-Tec Jump Shaped Saddle Pad
I love this saddle pad! The color looks great on my horse (he is a dark bay). The saddle pad is a lightweight, breathable material that my horse loves. I am never going back to other saddle pads. The diversity of shape and color allows me to get different pads for different disciplines while still having a happy horse. I love all of the color options and designs they have. There is a color for every outing!!

LeMieux X-Grip, WeatherBeeta Softshell Pro Grip and Equinavia Copenhagen Stay Put are the pads to try when a saddle slips, because each builds grip into the surface under the saddle. The LeMieux X-Grip Silicone Dressage Square adds memory foam and a blast foam core, the WeatherBeeta Softshell Pro Grip Dressage Saddle Pad has a soft shell outer, a silicone grip print and a zipper pocket, and the Equinavia Copenhagen Stay Put Dressage Saddle Pad uses a front foam bumper and a large faux suede patch at the girth.
Dapplebay takes a gentler route: the Constellation Jump Saddle Pad has a non-slip cotton underside under foam and poly fill, and ARMA and Dapplebay riders say their pads stay in place.
In fairness
If you want shims rather than grip, the LeMieux ProSorb and the ARMA Corrective Saddle Pad are the shim-ready pads.Fit
Match the pad's length and wither cut to your horse and saddle together: WeatherBeeta Prime Air-Tec pads have a high wither design, the Equinavia Eidsvoll Ultra Fleece Forward Cut Shaped Pad sits about 2 inches more forward than the standard Eidsvoll, and the LeMieux Suede Close Contact Square suits a close contact saddle.
One rider told us she has a short-backed horse that many dressage pads run too long for, and that LeMieux's Small/Medium gave her an option. Another told us a WeatherBeeta pad worked with her horse's high withers where other pads pressed, so a high wither cut such as the Prime Air-Tec All Purpose Saddle Pad is worth trying on that build.

Dressage pads have longer, straighter sides, jump and close contact pads are cut forward, and all purpose pads sit between, so measure your saddle's seat and flaps before you choose a brand.LeMieux saddle pads
I have a short backed horse and many are too long for him (Anky, Woof Wear, PS of Sweden, Equestrian Stockholm, Eskadron is borderline). However, LeMieux have S/M, PSoS and ES have cob, and Eskadron has PD/pony dressage so there are options for dressage pads.
WeatherBeeta Prime saddle pads
This pad works so well with my horse’s conformation. He has high withers & other pad were putting too much pressure there. Even when I pulled the pads up into the gullet of my saddle, they always seemed to creep back down & pinch him. He felt like he was moving his shoulders more freely & seemed more willing to go forward.
Classic cuts

Shires ARMA saddle pads suit riders who want a classic cut at an entry price tier: the Performance Dressage Saddle Pad and Satin AP Saddle Pad are simple everyday pads, the Air Motion Luxe Saddle Pad adds Air Motion fabric, and the Corrective Saddle Pad has four shim pockets.
Riders tell us ARMA pads look classy and simple, clean easily and stay put, and one says hers is the first pad that hasn't rubbed her mare.

ARMA does not repeat named colorways across bonnets and boots the way LeMieux does.Shires ARMA saddle pads
I have multiple saddle pads from this brand and I love how classy and simple they look. They are a great shape that comes up at the withers and down by the girth. They are super easy to clean and they are breathable for the horse. It is my go to brand for a saddle pad!

The Copenhagen Stay Put All Purpose Saddle Pad adds a front foam bumper for wither protection and a large faux suede patch at the girth, and the Kombi NordicAir Dressage Saddle Pad builds an integrated honeycomb foam half pad into the pad itself. I ordered this shaped pad on my way to show in Florida. It was 100% perfect for my saddle and my horse. During my stay, my saddle broke. I visited every saddle merchant at WEC, and CWD, Voltaire, Bruno, Fortestier, and Devancoux all commented on how well the pad fit their saddles. I told each one were I purchased it, so hopefully Equinavia will get some more business. Equinavia is now my go to for shaped show pads!
