LeMieux Fleece Edged Mesh Brushing Boots
These boots are much cooler than traditional fleece boots - when I take them off my horse's legs they are not hot underneath. Highly recommend!
Equinavia Ty NordicAir Brushing Boots
In this summer weather I wanted a brushing boot that would not heat up my mare's legs. These do the trick. I notice when I remove them after a ride or turnout that her legs are not hot or sweaty. The boots are lightweight yet don't sag and stay secure.
One rider says her LeMieux mesh boots take a serious beating and look like new after the washing machine, and another says hers have held up to training with the Velcro still holding.
LeMieux mesh brushing boots
I’ve become a huge fan of the Lemieux ProSport mesh boots. They are breathable, can take a serious beating, AND look like new after I throw them in the washing machine.
LeMieux Fleece Edged Mesh Brushing Boots
I am really pleased with these boots. They have held up really well to training and clean up easily. The velcro has lasted. The mesh keeps his legs cool. I highly recommend!
One rider with both says LeMieux mesh boots look a little nicer while ARMA Air Motion runs cooler overall, and another calls Air Motion the coolest boots she has had.
Shires ARMA Air Motion and LeMieux mesh brushing boots
I have some Arma Air Motion boots for everyday and hacking. They wash easily, dry quickly, and my horse’s legs don’t get terribly hot or sweaty. I did just order Lemieux snug boots, but they’re not here yet. I do have their air mesh brushing boots that aren’t bad either. They look a little nicer than the Arma boots, but the Arma’s have a better strike pad and are cooler overall.
Shires ARMA Air Motion Brushing Boots
Arma Air Motion boots. They’re basically multilayered mesh with an inner strike pad. The coolest boots I’ve had to date…and I’ve tried a lot.

The Arika Mesh Brushing Boots and Grafter Brushing Boots come in colors that coordinate with the rest of the LeMieux line, and the ProShell Brushing Boots use a molded PU shell with vents. LeMieux's care notes say to machine wash with the hook and loop fastened, then air dry.

Washing them is amazing come back up brand new even just using a bucket of water and brush
LeMieux Fleece Lined Brushing Boots
My favourite are the Lemieux fleece lined brushing boots! They are well made, easy to wash and hold up well to daily use. The fleece is nice and soft, the Velcro stays “sticky” and they look sharp too!
I use the Le Mieux mesh brushing boots for schooling and jumping. Highly recommend I've had them a few years and use almost daily.
LeMieux ProShell Over Reach Boots

Shires ARMA Neoprene Over Reach Boots
I adored these boots, I have used them consistently for the last 6 years, every three days I fling them in the washing machine with the other horsey wash stuff and they come up new every time. I’ve just bought some more pairs to have fancy white ones for the upcoming show season

Woof Wear brushing boots suit riders who want neoprene in place of mesh or fleece: the Single-Lock and Double Lock Brushing Boots use 5.5mm breathable neoprene that won't retain water, with a shaped strike pad, and the Sport Brushing Boot adds a full coverage strike pad in a wide color range.
For a shell boot, the iVent Hybrid Brushing Boots mold Woof Wear's iVent shell onto breathable mesh backed with lightweight polyolefin foam, which Woof Wear says gives airflow all the way around the leg.

Riders who want a light mesh boot for warm days often start with LeMieux mesh or ARMA Air Motion instead.Woof Wear Single-Lock Brushing Boot
Another vote for the Woof Wear Single Lock Brushing boots. They look smart, are hard-wearing, don't hold water and don't cause the legs to sweat.
Woof wear boots are my all time favorite! My first pair lasted 5 years, and were very well used! Love all the colors too.

Veredus boots are the step up for jumping work, with molded shells made in Italy: the TR PRO Open Front Boots pair a Polyflex-PU strike plate with Lycra-lined neoprene padding and a double Velcro closure, and the TRPro H5 Front Boot sits in the same family.
The Olympus Absolute Front Boots are Veredus's show jumping boot, with Vento double ventilation and carbon and gel extended from the flexor tendon to the fetlock. Riders tell us Veredus boots fit a wide range of horses, including big ones, and are easy to put on and wash.

Veredus sits at the top of the price range here; for everyday schooling, LeMieux, ARMA or WeatherBeeta mesh boots cost less.Veredus horse boots
I love my veredus boots!! A chunky 17.2 horse I know goes in the larger size, but I have found the mediums fit a wide range of horses well
Veredus horse boots
I have a moose of a horse and thus far, the only things I have found to fit him well are the Veredus boots in Large, which I really like as they are molded, easy to get on/off and easy to just chuck in the wash.

WeatherBeeta Tough-Tec boots cover mesh brushing boots and bell boots from one brand: the Tough-Tec Mesh Brushing Boots have a 3D mesh exterior, a leather-look PU strike pad and touchtape closures, and the Tough-Tec Prime Brushing Boots use breathable neoprene at a lower tier.
For bell boots, the Tough-Tec Impact Bell Boots are curved up at the front to follow the shape of the hoof, with a neoprene inner lining, and the Tough-Tec Prime Rubber Bell Boots close with touchtape, so there is no stretching rubber over the hoof. Riders tell us WeatherBeeta boots stay cool and hose off easily.

I have the weatherbeeta pro air ones. They have lasted me a year and a half so far and still look brand new. I chose them because I didn’t want legs getting too warm and they seem to do the job in that regard too!
WeatherBeeta Tough-Tec Impact Bell Boots
These fit really well and are so easy to put on, I have the WB size on my ISHxID 16.1 with bigger feet, they are so easy to hose off in the winter when it's muddy and don't get too hot in the summer

LeMieux Rubber Bell Boots, Equinavia Step Guard Rubber Bell Boots, Veredus STS Safety Bell Boots and Shires ARMA Smooth Gloss Bell Boots are the bell boots to compare for a horse that lives out, covering ribbed rubber, stepped rubber, a synthetic shell and glossy rubber. LeMieux's Rubber Bell Boots use a ribbed natural rubber shell with a double lock closure.
Equinavia's Double Lock Rubber Bell Boots are slightly wider at the bottom so they stay put, Veredus describes a tear-resistant, waterproof Bi-TECH synthetic shell with a Techno Soft Sheepskin cuff, and Dapplebay's ProTech Bell Boots use printed suede with faux fur at the pastern. Riders tell us bell boots from LeMieux, Veredus and ARMA hold up through daily turnout.
In fairness
Pick the shell by how your horse treats boots: rubber for a plain, flexible fit, synthetic for a waterproof shell, suede for a printed set.I’m on my second pair of these bell boots and after trying several other brands, these seem to be the best quality of Velcro bell boots. One pair lasted us about a year of daily turnout! Highly recommend!
I have a pair of their bell boots that I’ve been using for over a year on my horse during daily turnout and they are the longest-lasting pair of bell boots I’ve ever owned. This horse was destroying bell boots left and right when I moved him to our new barn last year and the Veredus bell boots are the only ones that managed to survive his shenanigans
Shires ARMA bell boots
These are the Goldilocks bell boots--sturdy enough that they hold up reasonably but not so hard and stiff that they cause rubs. My mare is out 24/7. She is hard on her bell boots, and these will eventually wear out.
Dapplebay Midnight Constellation Bell Boots
These Dapplebay Midnight Constellation Bell Boots are well made, very comfortable for the horse and super cute looking.

Size horse boots by measuring first and then checking the brand's own chart, because sizes differ from one maker to the next and the horse's height is only a guide. Measure the cannon bone for brushing boots, or the hoof width and length for bell boots.
A bell boot such as the WeatherBeeta Tough-Tec Impact should cover the hoof to just above the ground at the heels, and a brushing boot such as the LeMieux Grafter should sit snug on the leg without pinching. If the horse sits between sizes, choose the size that closes comfortably on the middle strap.
In fairness
An ARMA Air Motion size and a Woof Wear Sport size are not the same chart, so check each product page before you switch brands. In fairness

If you want boots that match your pad and bonnet, the Arika Mesh and Grafter Brushing Boots come in colors that coordinate with the rest of the LeMieux line.
If you wash boots after every ride, LeMieux's mesh and fleece brushing boots go in the machine with the hook and loop fastened.
If your horse has sensitive skin, the Fleece Edged Mesh Brushing Boots edge lightweight 3D mesh in soft fleece.
If you want a simple bell boot for turnout, the Rubber Bell Boots use a ribbed natural rubber shell with a double lock closure.
Yes for most of the range: LeMieux's care notes for its Mesh, Fleece Lined, ProShell and Grafter brushing boots say to machine wash with the hook and loop fastened, then air dry. Check the care line on the product page for each style before you wash it.
