      What riders say about Horze

Horze fit, wear and weather stories in riders' own words.

      Horze

2 years later and I'm coming back for two more pairs. My first pair I wear 4 times a week and they look like new still and have outlasted 3 pairs of tall boots. I am 5'7" and about 145 pounds. I bought a 26" waist and it fits perfectly. I have a 24"L in the Grand Prix and those fit very well albeit tight, so if you like a very tight fit go a size smaller. I love the fabric of these breeches, they don't show weird things in the wrong place!!! They are comfortable and conceal!! LOVE them and will never buy any other breeches ever. Please never discontinue!!!!

I bought a set of these boots almost 4 years ago now and use them every time I trailer the horse. They have not broken down at all and wash up well. Rudy, the horse, likes them so much that the one time I forgot to put them on, he refused to load! Soon as I put his boots on, he hopped right on to the trailer, and this was on a 100F day. Can't recommend these boots enough. I like them so much that I am buying another set for my new horse.

I have four sets of these, and I LOVE them! The biggest thing for me is that they are not thick and bulky like other polo wraps. I love the elastic on the outside, I feel like it supports my horse's legs more than the regular fleece polos, and also is less bulky. The elastic also makes them easier to keep clean, the dirt brushes right off. They come in a plastic zip up pouch which is great for storage. All of mine have held up great after everyday use and multiple times through the wash. Highly recommend!

This whip is so comfortable to use and very durable! I ride multiple horses a day, 6 days a week and the squishy gel handle really makes a difference in your hand. I am always disappointed when I have to use a different whip periodically. The shaft is flexible and gives you a nice feel. I have used it every day for the past 10 months. It has really held up to a lot of use. I am buying 2 more, because I love it so much.

      The Horze Edit

Horze for horse and rider, from the barn door to the ring

Horze outfits the horse first, with blankets, fly sheets and boots, then the rider in breeches, tall boots and winter layers. Each section below shows what that line does best.

Horze Nevada Heavyweight Winter Turnout Blanket 400g in black

      Blankets

Horze horse blankets from stable weight to heavy turnout

Horze horse blankets cover the cold months with weights from a 200g stable blanket to 400g heavyweight turnouts. The Glasgow Heavy Weight Combo Turnout Blanket 400g lists 3000mm/3000mvp waterproof, breathable 600D ripstop with taped seams, an attached neck piece and tail flap, and two front buckles with cross surcingles under the belly. The Nevada Heavyweight Winter Turnout Blanket 400g lists waterproof, windproof, breathable fabric with double crossed surcingles and a large tail flap, and the Nevada Stable Blanket 200g is the medium-weight choice for cool barn nights, with long shoulder gussets and a long tail flap.

Riders tell us Horze blankets fit horses that are hard to fit: one owner of a Friesian with a long mane found a high-neck blanket fit him like a glove, and the owner of a 16.3hh thoroughbred says a 75 inch blanket fit as well as his usual 76. Both say the blanket kept their horses warm without fuss. Look elsewhere if you need fill heavier than 400g, because the heavyweights above top out there. Match the weight to your horse's coat and your winters, and measure from the center of the chest to the tail before you pick a size.

Shop the Glasgow Heavy Weight Combo Turnout Blanket 400g, Nevada Heavyweight Winter Turnout Blanket 400g or Nevada Stable Blanket 200g, or browse all Horze horse blankets.

Horze Defender Combo Fly Sheet with belly band in sea spray

        Fly sheets

Horze breathable mesh fly sheets and waterproof combos

Horze fly sheets protect a horse from bugs and sun with mesh that keeps air moving. The Freja Belly Guard Combo Fly Sheet lists UV-protective poly mesh with a detachable high neck and belly guard, satin lining at the neck and shoulders against rubbing and hair loss, and a long tail flap with leg straps. The Nevada 600D Turnout Fly Sheet is a lightweight turnout and fly combination with a detachable neck cover, a waterproof, windproof back area and breathable mesh at the sides. The Freja Full Face Fly Combo Sheet adds a high neck and a mask with soft pile at the nose and mesh at the eyes.

Riders tell us the mesh keeps horses comfortable. A rider in the South whose mare has sweet itch needs nearly every part of her covered and calls her sheet very breathable, and the owner of a Nevada says the mesh keeps her horse from getting too warm while the upper portion stayed dry through heavy rain. Skip a fly sheet if you need winter warmth, since Horze lists these for spring and summer and the blankets above cover the cold months. Choose a combo when you want rain cover and airflow in the same sheet.

Shop the Freja Belly Guard Combo Fly Sheet, or browse all Horze fly sheets.

Horze Anti Twist Lock-On Bell Boots in black

          Horse boots

Horze tendon and fetlock boots with a neoprene lining

Horze horse boots protect legs and hooves with tendon, fetlock and bell styles. The Tendon Boots and Fetlock Boots list a hard outer shell that protects from knocks over a soft neoprene lining, and are made to be used together. The Adepto Tendon Boots list a durable outer, neoprene lining and a striped hook-and-loop closure. The Anti Twist Lock-On Bell Boots list sturdy heel protection with a hook-and-loop closure and a design that will not twist or rotate around the hoof, sold in pairs.

Riders tell us Horze boots fit horses that fall between standard sizes: a 15hh Quarter Horse too big for pony size and too small for horse size, a 9.1hh mini, and an Arab cross with long, thin legs each found a fit. Another rider says her bell boots stayed on a horse in heart bars longer than any other boot she tried, and a jumper's owner says hers hardly showed scuffs after two hours of jumping and trails.

Shop the Adepto Tendon Boots, Tendon Boots, Fetlock Boots or Anti Twist Lock-On Bell Boots, or browse all Horze horse boots.

          What Riders Say

          Horze

I used these bell on my old gelding who was in heart bars. They were the only thing that stayed on longer than a day even compared to ThinLine gatorbootz! I decided to try them on my new sensitive tb. He managed to take a shoe off in one pair and hated another pair so much he looked dead lame in them. *eye roll* These were perfect! I didn't hear him clip himself once in them!

          ★★★★★Verified buyer

          Horze

I bought a full size black pair for my 16.2HH gelding because he can be lazy about picking up his feet, which causes him to scrape his legs up and not be smooth in his gates. They seemed like they would be too tight at first but the straps are stretchy and turned out they fit him perfectly. Once I put them on him, immediately I noticed a difference. He's very princess and the pea about things but he loves these boots. I rode him for two hours the day I got them and jumped and he was fantastic! I took them off and they hardly showed any scuffs, and I KNOW they should be way more scraped than they are. I use them for jumping and trails and they work so well for both. Because my gelding is a sooty bay you can hardly see them when he has them on but when you get on, there's a difference. I reccomend these if your horse really needs the protection or if you think it would just be a little better for them to have a pair.

Horze Women's Tara Full Seat Breeches in tobacco brown

            Breeches

Horze full seat breeches with a high waist and grip seat

Horze breeches and riding tights put a silicone full seat and a high waist under every discipline, from schooling rings to long barn days. The Desiree High Waist Full Seat Breeches list a high waist with belt loops, a full seat silicone print and water and dirt repellent fabric, while the Tara Full Seat Breeches add an extra high waist, bit print silicone and front and back pockets. The Kaia Highwaist Denim Silicone Full Seat Breech adds contrast stitching and embroidered back pockets in denim. The Bella Full Seat Breeches list multiple phone pockets and a knitted blend of 68% rayon/viscose, 27% polyamide and 5% elastane, and the Betty Full Seat Tights pull on with breathable mesh inserts.

Riders tell us Horze breeches keep their looks through hard use: one wears hers four times a week and another rides two to four horses a day, and both say their pairs still look new. Another, tall and long-waisted, says the Desiree fits better than the breeches she wore for decades, and a rider who tried nearly every brand calls the high waist her most comfortable, with back support. Look elsewhere if you only wear low-rise breeches, because the Desiree, Tara and Bella are all built on a high or extra high waist.

Shop the Kaia Highwaist Denim Silicone Full Seat Breech, Tara Full Seat Breeches, Desiree High Waist Full Seat Breeches or Bella Full Seat Breeches, or browse all Horze full seat breeches.

            What Riders Say

            Horze

My trainer JUST found these breeches at our local tack store, and she and I are both in love with them! Unfortunately, they are really hard to find in our size right now, so hoping new colors will be coming out in the spring in this style. They are THE. MOST. COMFORTABLE. breech I have EVER put on, and I (and my trainer!!) have tried almost all brands. PLEASE, PLEASE don't discontinue them!!! The high waist offers exceptional comfort, and back support as well. They are simply awesome. Hands down the best out there.

            Horze

I've worn everything from pikeurs, kingslands, and animos and these breeches rate up there with all those brands EASILY. Extremely comfortable, very durable for everyday riding, and SO stylish. These breeches look awesome, feel awesome, and ARE awesome! Can't say enough good things about them. Definitely will be buying many pairs of these!

            ★★★★★Verified buyer

            Horze

I got a couple of pairs of these breeches over a year ago and they are still my favorites (over my Pikeur, Cavallo, Ariat, ....) They still look new after wearing at least weekly riding 2-4 horses a day. Like most of the Grand Prix line, they run a bit big and long based on US sizing. If you are between sizes, order the next size down. I love the longer length, but if you've got a super short inseam you may have issues.

            ★★★★★Verified buyer

            Horze

I love these so much and have, on many occasions worn them 3 days in a row because they feel so much better than all my other breeches. Medium-light weight stretch fabric with good body that gets better after washing. I find them totally wearable in heat and humidity and they retain their shape. Sizing is a bit generous (and stiff) on delivery, but perfect and TTS after a wash and cool tumble dry (inside out). Silicone is almost invisible on the plaid and perfectly tacky in the saddle. I did shorten them 3 inches with a serger as the ankles were too loose and long on me (5'3") and I like a cropped fit. I get so many compliments on these breeches, I'm buying another pair today and hoping there will be new color options in the EXACT same breech for next year!!!

Horze Women's Duvall Tall Dress Boots in black

              Tall boots

Horze tall boots in dress, country and winter styles

Horze tall boots cover everyday riding with dress, country and winter styles. The Duvall Tall Dress Boots list a curved calf design, a crystal Horze logo badge, silver buttons, printed grip leather on the inner calf and snap closures at the top of the leg with a zip guard. The Aspen Winter Tall Boots are listed for winter with an oil finish for extra water repellency and a warm, water-resistant build. The Rovigo Tall Country Boots list synthetic fur insulation, nubuck leather, full waterproofing, adjustable touchtape leather-covered tabs and a stirrup-friendly sole.

Riders tell us Horze tall boots give room where other boots do not. A 5'3 rider with wide feet, wide calves and high arches says the straps and side gusset gave her the room she needed, with space for her orthotic insoles in her usual size. Another, whose old pair of Ariats wore out, says after breaking hers in like a long boot she found them so comfortable that her knee stopped hurting, and she bought a second pair for wearing away from the barn.

Shop the Duvall Tall Dress Boots or Aspen Winter Tall Boots, or browse all Horze tall boots.

Horze Women's Isabella 3-in-1 Jacket in black

                Winter layers

Horze jackets, vests and overalls for cold barn chores

Horze women's jackets and vests build a winter riding wardrobe in layers. The Isabella 3-in-1 Jacket pairs an inner and an outer jacket that can be worn together or separately for three options, with warm padding, a water repellent elastic outer, a detachable hood and an adjustable waist. The Classic Quilted Vest lists a diamond quilted pattern, an adjustable waist and back with push buttons, and breathable, water repellent, windproof fabric. The Annica Waterproof Padded Riding Full Grip Overall lists warm padding and waterproof, windproof, breathable fabric with a silicone full seat.

Riders tell us Horze winter layers hold up to the cold. A rider in Chicago wears her Horze coat through the winters and uses its adjustable waist to layer underneath, and a rider in Montana says her Horze mittens kept her fingers warm through three long winters, including an extreme one, while she threw hay. The vest suits fall and spring days, while the jacket and overall carry the coldest weeks.

                  Questions riders ask

Horze FAQ: sizing, blankets and boots

What size Horze breeches should I order?

Many Horze breeches list European sizing, so the number on the label will not match the US size you usually order. Measure your waist and inseam, then match them to the size chart on the style page; the Desiree Full Seat Breeches, for example, list a 28 in inseam. One rider who wears Horze breeches orders her riding tights a size up for a smooth fit. Start in Find Your Fit above to shop by size.

How do I choose a Horze turnout blanket weight?

Choose by fill and conditions. Horze lists the Nevada Stable Blanket 200g as a medium-weight option for cool barn use, and the Glasgow and Nevada heavyweights at 400g for winter turnout. A clipped horse or one living out in deep cold suits the 400g fill, while a horse with a full coat on a chilly day suits the lighter weight. Measure from chest to tail, then browse the blankets.

Which Horze horse boots fit a pony or cob?

Riders tell us Horze horse boots fit horses that fall between standard sizes: a 15hh Quarter Horse, an Arab cross with long, thin legs and a 9.1hh mini each found a fit in the cob and mini pony cuts. Each style's page carries its size chart, so measure your horse's leg and compare before you order. Open the horse boots shelf to find the style that matches your horse.

What is the difference between a Horze fly sheet and a turnout sheet?

A Horze fly sheet is UV-protective mesh that keeps bugs and sun off a horse in spring and summer, as in the Freja Belly Guard Combo Fly Sheet. A turnout sheet is waterproof, and combos such as the Nevada 600D Turnout Fly Sheet pair a waterproof, windproof back area with breathable mesh sides. Pick a combo when you want rain cover and airflow together, and browse the fly sheets to compare coverage.
