River Boots IV: the waterproof all-rounder for daily barn chores

Dublin River Boots IV suit daily barn chores because a full-length waterproof membrane keeps feet and lower legs dry inside a premium full leather upper. The lining is breathable nylon, and the listed seasons are fall, spring and winter. Adjustable laces with an elastic top gusset let you open the shaft for thick socks, and the boot comes in a range of calf widths. A Phylon midsole and Tough Tec rubber outsole handle cushioning and traction, and a metal shank with molded heel and arch support steadies each step.

River boots get worn through mud and long barn days, and the reviews below read that way. Look elsewhere if you want lace adjustment along the whole side of the boot, which is the Pinnacle Boots III, or a fleece lining, which is Tyne Boots or Yukon Quilted Tall Country Boots.

Dublin River Boots

Love them! As comfy as an old boot! Exactly what I was after for walking the dogs. The last pair I got were from Rydale and they were rubbish and my feet got soaked in them. These are just like what I used to buy before and when I walk them off my feet I will be getting another pair.

Dublin River Boots

These are my second pair of boots as the previous lasted 10 years. They are brilliant in wet muddy conditions whether with horses or country walking. Really good foot support and extremely comfortable. I can’t recommend these boots enough.

Pinnacle Boots III: side lacing for a calf that needs adjusting

Dublin Pinnacle Boots III suit a calf that needs adjusting because full side lace adjustment is built to fit all calf sizes. The upper is premium full leather over a full-length waterproof membrane and a breathable nylon lining, and the listed seasons are fall, spring and winter. The footbed is a moisture-wicking RCS+ memory foam system, and the Phylon midsole and Tough Tec rubber outsole match the River IV. Dublin branded metal aglets finish the laces.

Where the River IV opens with laces and a top gusset, the Pinnacle III adjusts along the full side, which makes it the one to try when the calf is the sticking point. Look elsewhere if you want a back zip for quick on and off, because Tyne Boots carry a YKK full-length back zip.

Aire Boots: a PU suede boot with a pull tab for yard days and riding

Dublin Aire Boots suit yard days and riding when you want a sleek PU suede shaft over a full-length waterproof membrane lining. A rear pull tab makes them quick to pull on and off, and the footbed is a moisture-wicking RCS system with double cushioning layers. A Traction-Pro outsole pairs a lightweight Phylon midsole with thermoplastic rubber, and a metal shank with molded heel and arch support adds stability. Dublin lists them for riding, yard work and outdoor activities in all four seasons.

Pick Aire over River Boots IV when you want PU suede styling and a pull tab instead of laces. Look elsewhere if you want a full leather upper or an adjustable calf, because River Boots IV and Pinnacle Boots III offer both.

Tyne and Yukon: fleece- and sherpa-lined for cold barn mornings

Dublin Tyne Boots and Yukon Quilted Tall Country Boots are the fleece-lined boots in this line. Tyne has a fleece lining under a waterproof bootie, in a full-grain leather boot with a Spanish topline, a YKK full-length back zip and a hidden elastic panel. Yukon Quilted has a sherpa fleece lining with a waterproof, breathable bootie, a full lace front, a full back zip and a PU leather quilted finish. Dublin lists Tyne for all four seasons and Yukon Quilted for fall, spring and winter.

Choose Tyne for a zip-on boot and Yukon Quilted when you want laces to adjust the fit as well as a zip. Look elsewhere if you want a smooth leather boot with no fleece, because River Boots IV and Pinnacle Boots III keep a breathable nylon lining.

How to choose between Dublin country boots

  1. Start with the weather you work in: River Boots IV and Pinnacle Boots III carry a full-length waterproof membrane, Aire Boots a full-length membrane lining, and Tyne and Yukon Quilted a waterproof bootie lining.
  2. Match the closure to your calf: Pinnacle III has full side lace adjustment, River IV has adjustable laces with an elastic top gusset, and Tyne and Yukon Quilted have back zips.
  3. Add warmth only where Dublin states it: Tyne has a fleece lining, Yukon Quilted a sherpa fleece lining, and River IV and Pinnacle III a breathable nylon lining.
  4. Check your size on the Dublin Boots page; Dublin recommends choosing a larger size on River IV and Pinnacle III if you are between sizes or wearing thick socks.

River Boots IV

I highly recommend the Dublin River IV Tall Boots. They are comfortable for all day wear and are suitable for any equine occasion. Their waterproof material makes it easy to bathe your horse and clean a water trough without the concern for ruining your shoes.

Dublin country boots

The strong rubber soles make them durable for cleaning stalls and their soft insoles leave your feet still feeling strong even after long hours of teaching lessons.

Dublin country boots

What can I say? I live in these boots all fall , winter and early spring at the farm and in the barn. They survive mud, rain, snow, slush and a lot of horse manure. Wipe them down and they still are good enough for going to town. 3rd pair for me. Not because of wear and tear but because of me wanting more colors!
