This bit features 5 1/2" MBT shank and a Myler MB 16PB wide port barrel. This is a Myler level 3 bit.
The MB 16PB has a generously wide and moderately high port that allows plenty of room for the horses tongue to pass under the bit, more so than the MB 33. Although the port is 1 7/8", its generous width makes the mouthpiece sit very low in the mouth, minimizing the likelihood of excessive palate pressure. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.
The MBT shank is a length of flat stainless steel curved slightly back towards the horse, with a teardrop purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment to the cheek with a decorative stack. The shank is decorated with stainless steel dots. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. The MBT has the patented Independent Swivel Cheek, where the purchase, mouthpiece, and shank all move independently of each other.
