Buying tip:WeatherBeeta suits riders who want a waterproof turnout in the weight and neck style that matches their horse, with liners to layer when it gets colder. Measure from the center of the chest to the end of the rump in inches; that number is your size, so a 72 is 72 inches.
What riders say about WeatherBeeta blankets
Riders tell us how WeatherBeeta blankets hold up, fit and layer through the cold months.
WeatherBeeta Comfitec Plus Dynamic Turnout High Neck 220g
Beautiful blanket, love all the snaps and how it works with the liners. My mare seems comfortable and warm in it through this cold snap we’ve been having. I am a Weatherbeeta customer for life, as I still have one that’s lasted over 20 years! Just an excellent quality product at a great price, and that’s so rare to see these days.
WeatherBeeta Comfitec Ultra Turnout Detach-A-Neck 220g
This is a heavy well made blanket. I love the fleece inside the neck to help the mane from being rubbed out. I have found every blanket I have bought from this company superior to all the others.
WeatherBeeta Comfitec Essential Turnout 50g
★★★★★
This is the second one I have purchased. A great blanket for transitional temps, keeping mud off, or providing a little extra warmth to an unclipped horse. First one has held up well after several washings.
★★★★★
I can always rely on Weatherbeeta for great quality and great fit for my horse. She always looks great in the blankets and appreciates the warmth they provide for the brutal winter we have had here in western New York.

WeatherBeeta turnout lines compared
WeatherBeeta builds its Comfitec turnout blankets in lines that differ by outer shell and fill. Essential, Plus Dynamic, Legend, Heritage and Prelim use a 1200 denier ripstop shell with a PFC-free Guard-Tec coating. Classic, Tyro and Frontier use 600 denier, and Ultra uses an 1800 denier shell with a Teflon EcoElite coating. All of them are listed as waterproof and breathable, and the product pages quote hydrostatic pressure testing of 2,000mm and above.
Plus Dynamic and Ultra add memory foam wither relief pads, while Essential, Legend, Heritage and Limited Edition list a fleece wither pad. Ultra also has a Freedom system with cupped shoulder darts and a forward gusset. Most lines list compatibility with the WeatherBeeta liner system.
| Line | Outer shell | Fills (grams) | Neck styles |

Fill weights from 0g to 360g
Fill is the polyfill insulation inside the blanket, measured in grams. A 0g blanket has no fill, so it works as a waterproof sheet. 50g and 100g are the light fills, 220g is the middle weight and 360g is the heaviest WeatherBeeta lists on these blankets. WeatherBeeta describes the 100g polyfill as warmth for cooler climates and the 360g polyfill as added warmth.
Because most Comfitec turnouts list compatibility with the WeatherBeeta liner system, a lighter blanket can be layered with a liner when the weather turns colder.
| Fill | Lines that offer it |
|---|---|
| 0g (no fill) | Essential, Plus Dynamic, Legend, Prelim, Classic, Limited Edition |
| 50g | Essential, Tyro |
| 100g | Essential, Plus Dynamic, Legend, Heritage, Prelim, Ultra |
| 220g | Essential, Plus Dynamic, Legend, Heritage, Prelim, Limited Edition, Classic, Tyro, Frontier, Ultra |
| 360g | Essential, Plus Dynamic, Prelim, Classic, Ultra |

Detach-A-Neck, combo neck and neck covers
A Detach-A-Neck blanket has a neck cover that attaches to the blanket and can come off, so one blanket works with or without a neck. The Ultra Detach-A-Neck lists a removable, waterproof Snug-Fit neck cover. A combo neck blanket has the neck cover built in; the product pages call it an integrated neck cover that is not removable. Plus Dynamic also comes in a High Neck style.
A neck cover is sold separately and fits the matching Detach-A-Neck and standard-neck styles. The Essential neck cover, for example, is listed as fitting the Essential Detach-A-Neck and Standard styles, and the Ultra neck cover as fitting the Ultra Standard and Detach-A-Neck styles. Check the fits line on the product page before you order.

Fleece coolers, quarter sheets and liners
WeatherBeeta's fleece coolers are for cooling out, traveling and showing. The Anti-Static Fleece Cooler is lightweight anti-pill polyester fleece with anti-static technology and wicking properties. The Sherpa Fleece Cooler has a thermal Sherpa fleece lining with 300g of polyfill, and the Elite Fleece Cooler has a Sherpa fleece lining and a Cozi-collar. None of them is waterproof.
For riding in wet weather, the Waterproof Fleece Quarter Sheet has a 1200 denier shell with a fleece lining and attaches with touch tape straps to the girth straps or stirrup leathers. The Anti Static Fleece Quarter Sheet is lighter polyester fleece, and the Reflective Wrap Around Exercise Sheet is showerproof with all-over reflective material.
Comfitec Liners come in 50g, 100g, 200g and 300g and layer under compatible WeatherBeeta blankets. WeatherBeeta describes the 100g liner as made for added comfort in colder months.

Sizing: measure body length in inches

Neck covers and quarter sheets are sized Small to X Large instead of in inches.

WeatherBeeta blanket FAQ
What size WeatherBeeta blanket does my horse need?
Measure from the center of the chest to the end of the rump in inches. WeatherBeeta's size chart pairs each size with that body length, so a 72 is 72 inches (6 ft 0 in). The chart on each product page runs from 36 to 87, and the Comfitec turnouts here are listed in sizes 48 to 87 depending on the line.
CloseWhat do the fill weights, 0g to 360g, mean?
Fill is the polyfill insulation in the blanket, measured in grams. A 0g blanket has no fill and works as a waterproof sheet, while 360g is the heaviest fill WeatherBeeta lists on these blankets. WeatherBeeta describes the 100g polyfill as warmth for cooler climates and the 360g polyfill as added warmth.
CloseWhat is the difference between Detach-A-Neck, combo neck and a neck cover?
A Detach-A-Neck blanket has a neck cover that attaches to the blanket and can come off. A combo neck blanket has an integrated neck cover that is not removable. A neck cover is a separate piece that fits the matching Detach-A-Neck and standard-neck styles, so check the fits line on its product page.
CloseAre WeatherBeeta turnout blankets waterproof?
The Comfitec turnout lines are listed as waterproof and breathable, with the product pages quoting hydrostatic pressure testing of 2,000mm and above. The fleece coolers, Opulence show sheet and liners are listed as not waterproof, and the Reflective Wrap Around Exercise Sheet is listed as showerproof.
CloseWhat does 600, 1200 or 1800 denier mean on a blanket?
Denier measures the thickness of the yarn in the outer shell. WeatherBeeta uses a 600 denier ripstop shell in Classic, Tyro and Frontier, 1200 denier in Essential, Plus Dynamic, Legend, Heritage and Prelim, and 1800 denier with a Teflon EcoElite coating in Ultra.
CloseCan I layer a liner under a WeatherBeeta blanket?
Most Comfitec turnouts list compatibility with the WeatherBeeta liner system, and Comfitec Liners come in 50g, 100g, 200g and 300g. Check the product page of your blanket for the liner it fits before you order.
CloseWho are WeatherBeeta blankets for?
WeatherBeeta blankets suit riders who turn out through the cold months and want a waterproof blanket matched to each horse by weight, neck style and size. They also suit riders who cool out, trailer or ride in wet weather and want a fleece cooler or quarter sheet. Look elsewhere if you need summer fly protection.
