What riders say about these horse boots

Riders tell us what they notice first: how the boots fit, how the closures hold and how easy they are to clean.

Horze Adepto Tendon Boots

★★★★★

Darling and they fit my pony super; it's very difficult to find boots for ponies, so these were a great find!

Equinavia Ty NordicAir Brushing Boots

I love how ventilated the boots are. My gelding's legs are cool to the touch after removing these, and they're soft and gentle on his legs. My only comment is the fleece - it looks really nice, but the material tends to shed and feels more like a stuffed animal soft fleece than a normal fleece. Still looks very nice and you get the classic fleece look without all of the heat

Horze Glitter Bell Boots

★★★★★

I was surprised how good the velcro was on these. I also use these for light turnout as they wipe clean so easily.

Horze All Purpose Bell Boots

★★★★★

Best bell boots. They run small so buy size up. Easy to clean and stay soft around the hairline.

Horze Double Closure Ribbed Rubber Bell Boots

I take stock in bell boots due to my overreaching, destructive mare- lol! These have been working well for her in that they’ve held up!

Equinavia Odin Flexi Overreach Boots

★★★★★

Perfect boot for my young horse that managed to pull off his shoes. Great protection

Which horse boots does your horse need?

Start with the job, then the leg. Brushing and tendon boots guard the cannon bone and tendons from knocks in schooling and jumping, fetlock and ankle boots guard the back of the fetlock joint, bell boots cover the hoof and heel against overreach, and shipping boots wrap the whole lower leg for the trailer.

Horze and Equinavia cover every job in everyday boots, in colors that match a saddle pad. Veredus makes the competition boots for show jumping and cross-country. The table shows what we carry for each job.

Bell boots and overreach boots

Rubber bell boots are the classic overreach guard. Equinavia makes Double Lock Rubber Bell Boots, Rubber Pull On Bell Boots and Step Guard Rubber Bell Boots, whose graduated horizontal steps help deflect a strike and stop the boot flipping up. Double Lock Fleece Top Rubber Bell Boots add a fleece lining so the coronary band does not chafe. Horze Anti Twist Lock-On and Double Closure Ribbed Rubber Bell Boots are built not to rotate around the hoof.

Neoprene bell boots are lighter. Horze Pro Bell Boots are neoprene and described as tear-resistant, and Horze All Purpose Bell Boots pair neoprene with faux leather and suit horses in corrective shoeing. Equinavia Toki Neoprene Overreach Boots and Odin Flexi Overreach Boots run longer for more hoof coverage, and the Odin Flexi polyurethane shell is made for trail, cross-country and turnout.

Brushing, tendon and open front boots

Brushing boots wrap the cannon bone and take the knock when a horse strikes one leg with another. Equinavia Balder Brushing Boots have a neoprene body with an anatomic strike pad and hose off easily. Ty NordicAir Brushing Boots are the lightest and most breathable, in perforated poly foam. Vali Ultra Fleece Brushing Boots add a fleece lining under a faux leather outer, and Odin Flexi Brushing Boots have a flexible polyurethane shell.

Horze Tendon Boots and Fetlock Boots are a matched pair with a hard outer shell and neoprene lining, in sizes from Shetland to Large Horse. Horze Adepto Tendon Boots do the same from pony to large horse. For jumping, Equinavia Asgardian Open Front Boots have a molded PU shell with carbon mesh vents and a reinforced strike zone, and the open front means a horse feels it when he gets too close to a pole. Asgardian Ankle Boots match them. If you ride early or late, Horze Hi Viz Tendon Open Front Boots carry reflective tape.

Shipping boots, turnout boots and leg wraps

For the trailer, Horze Shipping Boots come as a set of four, tall enough to cover the lower leg, with a heavy fleece lining and wide hook-and-loop closures. Horze 3D Air Mesh Shipping Boots use 3D mesh to cut heat build-up on long hauls and a hard plastic heel guard against scuffs.

Horze Neoprene Turnout Boots Pair are perforated neoprene, contoured around the fetlock, so heat escapes in the paddock. Horze Leg Wraps are a quilted set of four in navy that go under stable bandages, and Horze Back Leg Wraps give hind legs support in the stable or on the trailer, sold as a set of two.

Cooling and therapy boots for after work

Equinavia Sval Cool Bell Boots, Tendon Boots and Stable Boots use a water-activated liner. Wet the boot under a hose or in a bucket and the inner material turns cold for about 20 minutes, with no ice or fridge. Equinavia describes them as a supplement to regular ice therapy, not a replacement for ice boots, and they are not for use while riding.

Horze Cairo Infrared Therapy Hock Boots have an infrared textile lining and a hole for the point of the hock, and are described for horses recovering from hard work or managing stiffness. If a leg is hot, swollen or sore, call your vet before reaching for any boot. Veredus makes Magnetik boots and wraps with neodymium magnets, covered on the Veredus page.

Competition boots by Veredus

Veredus is the competition line in this family. Its open front, ankle, tendon, fetlock and bell boots are built for show jumping, cross-country and training at home, in Small to Large, with bell boots up to X Large. Veredus describes its Carbon Gel and Vento boots with carbon strike zones, shock-absorbing gel and double ventilation, and its TR Pro and E-Vento boots are made in Italy.

This page keeps the Veredus range short on purpose. The brand’s best sellers sit in the Spotlight above, and the Veredus page carries the full story and every line.

Horse boot sizing: boot size and horse size

Who these horse boots are for

Horze and Equinavia boots suit riders who want dependable leg and hoof protection for everyday work, and Veredus suits riders who jump or compete. Look elsewhere if your vet has prescribed a specific boot, or if your horse needs hoof boots to ride unshod, which is a different product.

Horse boots FAQ

What size horse boots do I need?

Bell, overreach and brushing boots come in Small to XX Large, and tendon, fetlock and shipping boots come in horse sizes from Shetland to Large Horse. Sizes differ by style, so use the Find Your Fit row on this page and the size chart on the product page.

Close

What is the difference between brushing boots and tendon boots?

Brushing boots wrap the cannon bone and protect it when a horse strikes one leg with another. Tendon boots, especially open front boots, guard the tendons at the back of the leg; Equinavia notes that an open front lets a horse feel it when he gets too close to a pole.

Close

What are bell boots for?

Bell boots cover the hoof and heel to guard against overreach, when a hind hoof clips a front heel, and against pulled shoes. Rubber bell boots are the classic choice, and neoprene bell boots are lighter.

Close

Can horse boots be worn in turnout?

Some are made for it. Horze Neoprene Turnout Boots are perforated so heat escapes, and Equinavia describes the Odin Flexi Overreach Boots as suitable for trail, cross-country and turnout. Check each product description for its intended use.

Close

Do cooling boots replace ice?

No. Equinavia describes Sval Cool boots as a supplement to regular ice therapy, not a replacement for ice boots, and says they are not for use during riding. If a leg is hot, swollen or sore, call your vet.

Close

How do I clean horse boots?

Follow the care label on your style. Horze rubber bell boots and Tendon Boots rinse with cold water and air dry, Equinavia Ty NordicAir hose and air dry, Vali Ultra Fleece Brushing Boots machine wash on gentle and air dry, and Horze Shipping Boots can be scrubbed with mild soap or machine washed with the straps closed.

Close

Who are Horze, Equinavia and Veredus horse boots for?

Horze and Equinavia boots suit riders who want dependable everyday protection for schooling, turnout and the trailer. Veredus suits riders who jump or compete, and has its own page with every line.
