Shires Aubrion waterproof riding coats for wet barn days
Shires Aubrion makes its waterproof coats with riding details built in. The React Thermal Waterproof Coat and the Equestrian Winter Coat are both waterproof to 10,000mm and breathable to 6,000g, finished with Bionic Finish Eco, a fluorine-free water repellent, and both open from the bottom with a two-way zip so the coat spreads over the saddle instead of bunching at your hips.
For lighter rain the Cloudburst Raincoat is rated to 5,000mm with taped seams, a roomy bungee hood, a dipped hem and a chin guard, and the unisex Aubrion Team Jacket is a fleece-lined waterproof blouson with taped seams and an inner zip so a barn or team logo can be embroidered on the back.
Young riders get the same specs: the Kids' React Thermal Waterproof Coat and Kids' Equestrian Winter Coat carry the 10,000mm rating in ages 7 to 14.
Shires Aubrion insulated jackets and vests for low-bulk warmth
The React insulated pieces use Micro Fluffy polyester fill, an ultra-fine fiber that lofts like down. The React Insulated Coat carries 127g of it and the React Insulated Gilet 75g, both with a hood that folds away into a high collar, two zip pockets and reflective zip trim that catches headlights on dark winter evenings.
Both are cut boxy so they go over a base layer or a fleece. The Equestrian Hybrid Jacket takes the other route: a quilted core for warmth with stretch fleece sleeves so your arms move freely, plus rear rider vents and a two-way zip for time in the saddle. Kids can match in the Kids' React Insulated Coat with the same 127g fill.
Layering Shires Aubrion outerwear from fall into winter
Riders who layer stay comfortable from the first chilly morning to a freezing night check. Start with a stretch layer such as the Non-Stop Jacket, a quick-drying midlayer with raglan sleeves, or a fleece like the React Winter Fleece. Add the React Vest, a windproof stretch softshell with a dipped hem, or the React Insulated Gilet when the wind picks up.
When the rain comes, a waterproof shell goes on top. The React Thermal and the Equestrian Winter Coat both have room over a vest, and the two-way zip lets the coat open over the saddle however many layers are underneath.

Shires Aubrion women's outerwear runs XXS to XXXL, US 2 to 16, and sizes by chest: measure around the fullest part of your chest over the layer you plan to ride in, then read across the chart. The kids' coats run ages 7-8 to 13-14 and size by height and chest.
Cut matters as much as the number. Shires makes the React Insulated Coat and Gilet boxy so they go over layers, while the React Thermal, Cloudburst and Hybrid Jacket are contour cut and sit closer. If you are between sizes and ride in a thick fleece, the larger size leaves room to move. The Team Jacket is unisex, XS to XXL.
