Equinavia Thunder360 Detachable Neck Mid Weight Turnout Blanket 200g

★★★★★

I adore this blanket. It’s held up so well and keeps my horse clean and warm and dry even in some of our crazy winter weather or when she rolls in the mud. It cleans off easily and I also get so many compliments on it. No blanket rubs and it’s easy on and off. My favorite blanket by far!

Love this blanket. My horse runs hot and this blanket is breathable enough that he remains comfortable even when the temps go up during the day

Horze Nevada 1200D Lightweight Turnout Sheet

★★★★★

Love the colors and fit of this rain sheet. I am in Florida and it rains a lot but is very warm. This gives my mare weather protection without overheating, with an ample fit and room for her shoulders. Love the quick clip front and the option for leg straps or tail strap (they send both) for the rear.

Equinavia Luftig Waffle Cooler

★★★★★

Haven't laundered it yet but, it appears to be well constructed. A previous reviewer suggested going up a size which is good advice. My mare is very "electric" so, fleece and wool coolers just aren't worth the static. THANK YOU for offering a cotton cooler. Just enough to help her dry and keep her back warm until it is dry.

Horze Kiel Fleece Riding Blanket

★★★★★

Simple, straight forward fleece quarter sheet that has pretty trim and piping. Has nylon rope to be used as a tail cord, that’s removable. Fleece is thin, but overall very happy with this. Can’t beat the price, and the trim and piping make it look quality.

Horze Kiel Fleece Blanket

I purchased a fleece cooler from Equinavia a couple years ago from a different site and loved it. They no longer carried the Equinavia coolers so I went direct. My horse grew so I needed a bigger one and liked the one I got before so I ordered again. Clips are very cheaply made now that close the front shoulders together ( they did add velcro as well to the front of the cooler) and there isn't an option for legs straps anymore. Fabric still seems to be good of quality. Drys your horse quick!

Equinavia turnouts: Norse, Arktis and Thunder360

Equinavia makes three turnout lines, and the outer fabric tells them apart: Norse is 600 denier, Arktis is 1200 denier and Thunder360 is 1680 denier. Each comes as a no-fill sheet and in 100, 200 and 300 g, so the line sets how tough the blanket is and the fill sets how warm.

A higher denier is a heavier, more tear-resistant weave, not a drier one; Equinavia lists all three outers as waterproof and breathable.

Equinavia describes the Arktis 200 g as its general-use turnout for most cold, wet winter weather and Thunder360 as its toughest outer. Pick the weight with the Blanket Weight Calculator.

100, 200 or 300 g: how much fill a horse needs

Fill is measured in grams: in Norse, Arktis and Thunder360 the Light Weight is 100 g, the Mid Weight is 200 g and the Heavy Weight is 300 g, and a sheet has no fill at all. The outer decides how well a blanket sheds weather; the fill decides how much heat it holds.

A clipped, older or thin horse usually steps up a weight. Equinavia also makes the Arktis TransitionFlex, a two-in-one with a removable 200 g half blanket, so one outer covers the seasons that change week to week.

  1. No fill (sheet): the waterproof outer and lining only, for wet days and for layering over a stable blanket or fleece.
  2. 100 g Light Weight: the lightest fill, for cool nights and changing seasons.
  3. 200 g Mid Weight: the all-round winter weight in Equinavia turnouts.
  4. 300 g Heavy Weight: the warmest fill, for the coldest winters.

Not sure which weight? Try the Blanket Selector or read the Horse Blanket Guide; the Blanket Center covers every brand we carry.

Equinavia stable blankets, coolers and fleece

An Equinavia stable blanket stays in the barn. The Norse Stable Blanket has a 250 denier quilted outer with 100 g or 200 g of fill and is not waterproof, so it never goes out in the rain; Equinavia also describes it as a base layer under a turnout.

Coolers do the after-ride and changing-season jobs. The Norse Fleece Cooler is anti-pill fleece, the Luftig Waffle Cooler is 100% cotton, the Ulla Wool Cooler is 100% wool, and the Norse Fleece Quarter Sheet goes under the saddle flap or over the rider's legs while the Exercise Quarter Sheet covers the hindquarters only. Wash the Luftig in cold water and skip the dryer; because 100% cotton shrinks, Equinavia suggests buying up a size if you plan to machine wash it.

Horze blankets: Nevada and Glasgow lines

Horze is the second main line on this page, and Equinavia is its sole US distributor. Horze lists the Nevada Lightweight Turnout Sheet at 1200 denier ripstop with 3000 mm waterproofing and 3000 mvp breathability, and the Glasgow Mid Weight 200 g and Heavy Weight 300 g turnouts at 600 denier.

Glasgow also comes as a light weight sheet, a 100 g turnout, a 350 g heavy weight, combo turnouts with an attached neck piece in 150 g and 400 g, and stable blankets from 100 to 200 g. The Cairo Infrared Therapy line adds a stable blanket, a turnout sheet and a waterproof quarter sheet, and Kiel, Marquess, Helsinki and Vail cover fleece and wool.

Equinavia and Horze blanket sizing in inches

Measure from the center of your horse's chest, along the barrel, to the point of the buttock: the number of inches is the blanket size. Horze labels add an EU size next to the inches, and the table lists each pair.

Equinavia pony, foal and neck cover sizes

Norse is the line cut for small horses. Norse Pony turnouts come as a sheet and in 100, 200 and 300 g in sizes 48 to 63 inches, Norse Foal turnouts come as a sheet and in 200 g in Small to Large, and the Norse Waterproof Goat Coat comes in 0 g and 200 g, Small to X Large.

Neck covers are sized Small to X Large: Norse and Arktis covers come in no fill and 200 g, Norse Pony covers in Small to Large, and the Arktis cover for Flex turnouts in no fill and 100 g.

Who Equinavia and Horze blankets are for

Equinavia and Horze blankets are for riders who want one family of blankets for every layer, with sizes from a 48 inch pony to an 84 inch horse and weights from a no-fill sheet to 300 g.

Look elsewhere if your horse measures more than 84 inches from chest to buttock, or if you need a cut or size these lines do not list.

  • Riders who blanket in layers buy a Norse or Arktis turnout, a Norse Stable Blanket to go under it and a fleece cooler for after the ride.
  • Owners of horses that are hard on blankets buy Arktis at 1200 denier or Thunder360 at 1680 denier, the two tougher outers.
  • Riders in mild, wet climates buy a no-fill sheet such as the Horze Nevada 1200D Lightweight Turnout Sheet; a Florida rider says it gives her mare weather protection without overheating.
  • Pony and foal owners buy Norse Pony turnouts from 48 inches or Norse Foal turnouts in Small to Large.
  • Riders with a static-prone horse buy the 100% cotton Luftig Waffle Cooler; one rider thanks Equinavia for offering a cotton cooler.
  • Riders who warm up a horse in cold weather buy a Norse or Horze fleece quarter sheet.

Equinavia and Horze blanket FAQ

Who is Equinavia for?

Equinavia suits riders who want one family for every blanket layer: turnout sheets and 100 to 300 g turnouts, stable blankets, fleece coolers and quarter sheets, from pony sizes at 48 inches up to 84 inches. Horze, which Equinavia distributes in the US, fills out the same range with its Nevada and Glasgow lines.

Which Equinavia turnout line should I choose?

Choose by outer fabric: Norse is 600 denier, Arktis is 1200 denier and Thunder360 is 1680 denier. All three come as a no-fill sheet and in 100, 200 and 300 g, so denier is the toughness choice and fill is the warmth choice.

Close

What size blanket does my horse need?

Measure from the center of the chest, along the barrel, to the point of the buttock; the inches are your size. Equinavia and Horze list sizes in inches, and Horze labels also show an EU size, such as EU 145 for 78 inches.

Close

What is the difference between a turnout and a stable blanket?

A turnout is waterproof and made for the field; a stable blanket is not waterproof and is made for the barn. The Norse Stable Blanket has a 250 denier quilted outer and 100 g or 200 g of fill, and it also works as a base layer under a turnout.

Close

How do I wash a cotton cooler?

The Luftig Waffle Cooler is 100% cotton: machine wash it in cold water and do not use a dryer. Because cotton shrinks, Equinavia recommends buying up a size if you plan to machine wash it.

Close

Are Horze and Equinavia the same brand?

No. Horze is a separate brand, and Equinavia is its sole US distributor. Both ranges sit on this page because riders shop them together.
