This bit features 6 3/4" black steel flat shanks and a Myler MB 27HP rollback correction high port. This is Myler level 2-3 bit.
The MB 27HP is a Myler correctional mouthpiece, which is a ported mouthpiece that collapses onto the outer lip and bars and rotates onto the tongue. The port, although narrow, offers room for the horses tongue to pass under the bit. When the reins are engaged and the mouthpiece rotates onto the tongue, it applies two concentrated points of pressure on the tongue for quick control. Because this port is 2" high, it applies palate pressure but allows for extra tongue relief. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.
The MBB shank is a length of flat black steel curved slightly back towards the horse, with a teardrop purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment to the cheek with a decorative stack. The shank is decorated with stainless steel dots. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. The black steel will discolor over time to an antique brown.
