What Riders Say

  • Amigo turnouts

    ★★★★★

This blanket style is the only blanket I have found that fits my warmblood and doesn't twist. I only buy Horseware blankets now.

  • Amigo Bravo turnouts

    ★★★★★

I've been getting the Amigo Bravo's for my guys for a couple years now. They are well below the Rambo price point and so far (3 plus years) they've held up super well. Each year I add another piece and have been super happy with all of them. Love the v-neck closure and three belly straps. Never had a mix up and they arrive quickly - even during the holiday rush!!! Will continue to purchase!!!

  • Horze turnout blankets

    ★★★★★

It's actually my first time buying a product from here, so I decided to give it a shot since all I kept seeing on every site I was on was ads for Horze.. I bought this for my thoroughbred, (I live in the mountains of PA and it gets really cold for him) not knowing what to expect... And I'm actually in love with how it fits and how warm it keeps my boy! And it didn't cost me an arm and a leg! He LOVES it, if I do say so for him! I would recommend this for anyone looking for a good blanket, especially something to keep on a not so fluffy or clipped horse for those chilly days! P.s- for those who are wondering, my horse normally wears a 76in blanket (16.3hh TB), but the 75in still fits just as nice/the same!! Hopefully that helps!

  • Weatherbeeta coolers

    ★★★★★

I used this cooler last evening after a bath on my wooly Hanoverian GP horse and was utterly impressed by how quickly it dried him! I pulled it off after working my two other horses and he was almost completely dry. I was amazed at how wet the cooler was and yet his coat was dry. Luckily I purchased one for all of my horses!! I've owned ALOT of coolers and this is my new favorite!!

  • Shires turnout blankets

    ★★★★★

Usually a devout Horseware customer, I decided to give Shires a go due to the high denier and lower price-with hay prices sky rocketing it’s a no brainer! With the awful weather we’ve had in the past few weeks this rug has been fantastic. No leaks, dries quickly and fits my chunky BWB beautifully, sitting high enough on his shoulders not to rub. Very impressed, will definitely buy again!

  • Rambo blanket liners

with 4+ years of experience to back me up on this one, the Rambo blanket liners work GREAT with non-Rambo and non-Horseware blankets.

Blanket Questions

What weight blanket does my horse need?

Start from the temperature and whether your horse is clipped. Our Weight Calculator uses this chart:

TemperatureUnclipped horseClipped horse
50°F and upNo blanket neededLight sheet (0–100g)
40–50°FLight sheet optionalLight to medium (100–200g)
25–40°FLight sheet (0–100g)Medium (200–250g)
10–25°FMedium (150–250g)Heavy (300–400g)
Below 10°FHeavy (300–400g)Extra heavy (400g+) or layer
Shelter, age, body condition and thin-skinned breeds all shift the answer. Check under the blanket and adjust as the forecast changes.

How do I measure my horse for a blanket?

Stand your horse square. Run a soft tape from the center of the chest, around the widest part of the shoulder, along the side to the point of the buttock. The number in inches is the blanket size. Between two sizes, check the brand’s own chart on the product page.

What is the difference between a turnout and a stable blanket?

A turnout has a waterproof, breathable outer shell for the paddock. A stable blanket is made for the stall or a dry barn and is not waterproof, so it should not go out in the rain.

What does denier mean?

Denier describes the weight of the fibers in the outer fabric. A higher denier, such as 1200D or 1680D, is tougher and stands up better to a horse that is hard on blankets.

Can I add warmth without buying another blanket?

Yes. Many turnouts take a liner, so one shell can cover several weights. Check that the liner and the shell are compatible before you buy.

How do I wash and store a blanket?

Follow the care label. Brush off mud first, wash cool with a blanket wash, skip fabric softener and bleach, and hang to dry. Store clean and fully dry in a breathable bag.
