This bit has a slight leverage action, as the reins are attached lower than the mouthpiece. The swivel action means that individual rein action will take a little longer to reach the mouth, making this a softer bit. The mullen mouth creates a uniform solid pressure on the tongue with no nutcracker action or soft pallet pressure.
