This bit features 7 1/2" embossed seven shanks with a Myler 13 narrow ported cathedral mouth. This is a Myler level 2-3 bit.
The MB 13 does not rotate onto the tongue but instead sits solidly across the bars and lips of the horses mouth. The port is relatively generous, measuring 1 3/8" to the top inside and wider than most Level 2-3 mouthpieces. The flat plate above the port is 1 5/8" high and 3/4" wide, rolled back to conform to the palate instead of sitting straight up. When the reins are engaged, this mouthpiece will rotate forward across the bars and lips, applying pressure to the palate. The pressure on the palate is distributed across the surface of the plate. Sweet Iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.
The Embossed Seven Shank is an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap that attaches to the purchase. This shank uses the combination of fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin, and poll. The cheek is embossed with a decorative floral pattern and concho. The mouthpiece attaches to the cheek with a square end that minimizes rein motion. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing.
