Breeches and riding tights
Most riders end up owning both. Knee patch breeches put grip at the inside of the knee, where a two-point position needs it, which is why they're the standard for hunters, jumpers and eventers. Trail riding clothes
For the trail, think layers and durability: a breathable base layer, a riding tight or breech with a phone pocket, a vest or softshell you can shed as the day warms up, and a waterproof shell for the rain. Riding boots
